Ich reise viel, ich reise gern I travel a lot, I like to traveling
Fern und nah und nah und fern Far and near and near and far
Ich bin zuhause überall I’m everywhere at home
Meine Sprache: International My Language: international
Ich mache es gern jedem recht I like to please everyone
Ja, mein Sprachschatz ist nicht schlecht Yeah my vocabulary is not bad
Ein scharfes Schwert im Wortgefecht A sharp sword in the battle of words
Mit dem anderen Geschlecht With the other gender

Ich bin kein Mann für eine Nacht I’m no man for a night
Ich bleibe höchstens ein, zwei Stunden I stay maximum for one, two hours
Bevor die Sonne wieder lacht Before the sun is laughing again
Bin ich doch schon längst verschwunden Am I already gone
Und ziehe weiter meine Runden And continue my rounds

Ich bin Ausländer (Ausländer) I’m a stranger (stranger)
Mi amor, mon chéri Mi amor, mon chéri
Ausländer (Ausländer) Stranger (stranger)
Ciao, ragazza, take a chance on me Ciao, ragazza, take a chance on me
Ich bin Ausländer (Ausländer) I’m a stranger (stranger)
Mon amour, Я люблю тебя Mon amour Я люблю тебя
Ein Ausländer (Ausländer) A stranger (stranger)
Come on, baby, c’est, c’est, c’est la vie Come on, baby, c’est, c’est, c’est la vie

Andere Länder, andere Zungen Other Countries, other tongues
So hab’ ich mich schon früh gezwungen So I do forced myself in the past
Dem Missverständnis zum Verdruss In the missunderstanding of frustration
Dass man Sprachen lernen muss That you have to learn Languages
Und wenn die Sonne untergeht And when the sun sets down
Und man vor Ausländerinnen steht And you stand in front of strangers
Ist es von Vorteil, wenn man dann Is it beneficial if you then
Sich verständlich machen kann Being able to communicate

Ich bin kein Mann für eine Nacht I’m no man for a night
Ich bleibe höchstens ein, zwei Stunden I stay maximum for one, two hours
Bevor die Sonne wieder lacht Before the sun is laughing again
Bin ich doch schon längst verschwunden Am I already gone
Und ziehe weiter meine Runden And continue my rounds
Hahahahahaha Hahahahahaha

Ich bin Ausländer (Ausländer) I’m a stranger (stranger)
Mi amor, mon chéri Mi amor, mon chéri
Ausländer (Ausländer) Stranger (stranger)
Ciao, ragazza, take a chance on me Ciao, ragazza, take a chance on me
Ich bin Ausländer (Ausländer) I’m a stranger (stranger)
Mon amour, Я люблю тебя Mon amour Я люблю тебя
Ein Ausländer (Ausländer) A stranger (stranger)
Come on, baby, c’est, c’est, c’est la vie Come on, baby, c’est, c’est, c’est la vie

Du kommen mit, iche machen gut You come with me, I make you good
Du kommen mit, iche machen gut You come with me, I make you good
Du kommen mit, iche machen gut You come with me, I make you good

  1. I think this song means a lot of things…

It both cherishes and mocks cosmopolitanism – cherishing the freedom of it, and the openness that it requires from a person, while also mocking the “depth” of shallowness the idea had descended into after it came in vogue – which is why it’s so… Pop-like – I’d say this the closest they’ve ever actually gotten to “tanz metal”, which is how they described their own genre at one point.
The name of the song (which can mean “foreigner”, “stranger” or “outsider”) is also meant to provoke those who are so ardently against cosmopolitanism.
But, as Tour Manager said, its also about the band being on tour, and visiting all sorts of people across the globe – which is shown through the various languages they use: Spanish, Italian, French, English, Russian…

  2. Instead of:

    Other Countries, other tongues
So I do forced myself in the past
    In the missunderstanding of frustration
That you have to learn Languages
And when the sun sets down
And you stand in front of strangers
Is it beneficial if you then
    Being able to communicate

    I’d say something like:

    Different countries, different tongues/languages*
So I was forced (to learn) very early on,
because of the frustrations of misunderstanding,
that you must learn other languages.
And when the sun goes down,
and you’re standing in front of foreign ladies**,
    it’s definitely a plus
if you can make yourself understood.

*there’s a play on words here
** “Ausländerinnen” literally means “female foreigners”. The concept of the foreigners being ladies is important for the meaning and/or joke here – He’s trying to seduce women in many different languages, and hopefully get to use his tongue (meaning language) AND his tongue (meaning tongue) with them!

  3. I think it says Mi amor in Spanish (i’m Spanish) and the part that is in some kind of Russian in these lyrics sounds to me as I love you (English) tres bien ( French).
    Could it be so?

  4. The problem with all the translations is that they are direct literal translations and no one speaks directly literally. It’s bad grammer, this is the translation WITH CONTEXT to what is meant, this song is about THE BAND BEING ON TOUR

    I travel a lot, I like TOURNG
Far and near and near and far
I’m AT HOME WHEREVER I AM
    My Language is international
I like to ENTERTAIN ALL OF YOU
    Yeah my vocabulary isnt bad
A sharp sword in the battle of words
    With the other gender

I’m no man for a night
I stay only one/ two hours
Before the sun is laughing again (in other words RISES)
    I AM already gone
    And continue my TOUR

    I’m an OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
    My Love, My Darling
    OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
Hello Girl, take a chance on me
    I’m an OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
    My Love, I Love You
    AN OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
    Come on, baby, that’s life

    Other Countries, other tongues
So in the past I WAS
    FRUSTRATED WITH MISUNDERSTANDING
that you have to learn Languages ((this is talking about learning throughout touring you need to communicate with the audience in the country you are in))
And when the sun sets (in other words, AT NIGHT)
When you stand in front of strangers (this is talking about being on stage!)
    IT IS beneficial for you
    TO BE ABLE TO communicate

I’m no man for a night
I stay only for one/ two hours
Before the sun is laughing again (in other words RISES)
    I AM already gone
    And continue my TOUR
    Hahahahahaha

    My Love, My Darling
    OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
Hello, Girl, take a chance on me
    I’m AN OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
    My Love, I love you ? ????? ????
    AN OUTSIDER (OUTSIDER)
    Come on, baby, that’s life

COME WITH ME IT”LL BE GREAT
COME WITH ME IT”LL BE GREAT
COME WITH ME IT”LL BE GREAT

  5. The last german is wrong, it’s “Du kommen mit, ich dir machen gut”. It is intentionally grammatically broken german, in the way that forgeigners in germany often may talk.

  6. OMG – It’s about BEING ON TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The band has been touring for over 20 years – clearly most of you have never been on tour and do not understand this song AT ALL.
Auslander is OUTSIDER in this context, not foreigner – which is now considered an antiquated and derrogatory term.
Mi amor, mon chéri = My Love, My Darling
    Ciao, ragazza = Hello, Girl
    ? ????? ???? = I love you
    c’est la vie = That’s Life

  7. It’s probably “Mi amor” (Spanish) instead of “Mi amore” (Italian). He’s pronouncing it “mee ah-mor” (Mi amor), if it was Italian he’d pronounce it “mee ah-mor-ray” (Mi amore, the E is not silent).

  8. My favorite song so far, also I agree with the guys who commented before, it says “mi amor” not “mi amore”

  9. I fixed it:

    I travel a lot, I like traveling
Far and near, and near and far
    I’m at home everywhere
    My language: international
    I like to please everyone
    Yeah, my vocabulary isn’t bad
A sharp sword in the battle of words
    With the other gender

I’m no man for a night
I don’t stay for more than one-two hours
Before the sun is laughing again
    Am I already gone
    And continue my rounds

    I’m a foreigner (foreigner)
    Mi amor, mon chéri
    Foreigner (foreigner)
Ciao, ragazza, take a chance on me
    I’m a foreigner (foreigner)
    Mon amour, ya lyublyu tebya
    A foreigner (foreigner)
Come on baby, c’est, c’est, c’est la vie

    Other countries, other tongues
That’s how I forced myself early
    In the misunderstanding of frustration
That you have to learn languages
And when the Sun sets down
And you stand in front of foreigners
Is it beneficial for you then
    Being able to communicate

I’m no man for a night
I don’t stay for more than one-two hours
Before the sun is laughing again
    Am I already gone
    And continue my rounds

    I’m a foreigner (foreigner)
    Mi amor, mon chéri
    Foreigner (foreigner)
Ciao, ragazza, take a chance on me
    I’m a foreigner (foreigner)
    Mon amour, ya lyublyu tebya
    A foreigner (foreigner)
Come on baby, c’est, c’est, c’est la vie

You come with me, I make you feel well
You come with me, I make you feel well
You come with me, I make you feel well

  10. This song is about his desire of travelling and how learning languages is important in order to communicate with others around the globe. He’s a foreigner to the world wherever he visits.

  11. I’m not entirely sure about this, but I think that in the lyrics it says “Mi amor” (as in Spanish) instead of “Mi amore” (as in Italian).
