Rammstein Seemann lyric with English translation

Komm in mein Boot
ein Sturm kommt auf
und es wird Nacht

Wo willst du hin
so ganz allein
treibst du davon

Wer hält deine Hand
wenn es dich
nach unten zieht

Wo willst du hin
so uferlos
die kalte See

Komm in mein Boot

Komm in mein Boot
die Sehnsucht wird
der Steuermann

Komm in mein Boot

die Zeit steht still
und mir ist kalt
Come in my boat
a storm is rising
and it is becoming night

Where do you want to go
so completely alone
you are drifting away

Who holds your hand
when it pulls
you under

Where do you want to go
so boundless
the cold sea

Come in my boat
the autumn wind holds
the sails taut

Now you are standing by the lantern
with tears in your face
the daylight falls on the side
the autumn wind sweeps the streets clear

Now you are standing by the lantern
you have tears in your face
the evening light chases away the shadows
time stands still and it becomes autumn

Come in my boat
the helmsman
feels longing

Come in my boat
the best seaman
was I

Now you are standing by the lantern
you have tears in your face
you take the fire from the candle
time stands still and it becomes autumn

They only spoke of your mother
only the night is so merciless
at the end I am left alone
time stands still
and I am cold

“Seemann” is noted to be one of the few slow paced songs by the band. During the live performance, Flake Lorenz used to “surf the crowd” in a boat. However, after being injured several times and almost completely stripped at one concert, the band’s bassist Oliver “Ollie” Riedel took his place. It is one of the few songs by the band performed in a major key.

  1. What a beautifull song…and what a VOICE!I knew he had a tremendesly special voice, but he really surprised me here!!Now I love Rammstein even more,if possible! They are true artist in soul and heart. It is the best band ever! And me beeing a 45 years old grandmother….ha ha ha…should say it all!!I am not the typical grandmother you can say!But I love the band, their music, lyrics, shows and videos.Rammstein rules!!!!

  2. I don’t think I’m worthy…. This song is damn beatiful. Rammstein is the best band ever, and this song proves it.

  3. Tanya is right. But there is always somebody who says that the song is about loving someone who doesnt love you 😀 😀 😀 Are you crazy, you think all songs in the universe have to be about loving someone who doesnt love you and feeling lonely? 😀

Seemann is about the greek myth about the Queen of the Underworld – Persephone. And ofcourse about Hades’ ferryman – Charon.

    • idk to me, the song in a nutshell is as if sung by someone broken, yet still longing for glory of the past.

Perhaps this narrates either of these so called “theories” of what song is about what. Im probably not the only one, but I enjoy songs by trimming a lot of stuff to only feeling the basic emotions in it, and you feel immersed in the story told by the author, in the form of a melody, almost like watching a movie. Of course different people probably hears a different “story”, and that in itself is a beautiful phenomenon. For you and this Tanya to hear the same song and listen to a different, unique stories

  4. @Jagan, the literally translation of “seemann” is “sea man”, since see is “sea” or “lake” and mann is, yeah, man.. so yes, it’s “sailor”.

OnT: This is probably one of the best Rammstein-songs ever. Oh God how I love it. Makes me cry almost every time.

  5. Even my ass Laugh
    Seriously SeeMan mean sailor?
wow is in english already seeman =)) kmon guys i though u know better but w/e. Gr8 song with rly great bass sound \m/

  6. Really it sounds like they are describing the boatman at the river Styx. Only they can know, really. Great song, absolutely beautiful. Nina Hagen and Apocolyptica also do a beautiful cover of this song.

  7. I was extremely surprised when I heard Till’s voice in this songs, and also surprised at the calmness in the song. But somehow it still keeps the “Rammstein” glow.
I think it’s great that the band can do some alternative songs 😀

  8. Komm in mein Boot

    die Sehnsucht wird

    der Steuermann

I think the correct translation would be:

    Come in my boat,

    longing shall be

    the helmsman

  9. ok anyanca I agree with you but I don't think its because the person they loved wasn't able to be saved, I think the person is sad because the person they love wouldn't love them so the person feels lost, alone and sad without this person.

    • it's about someone who is so alone that all they feel is sadness, and someone they love(-ed), and tried to save, but couldn't.
