DAVE LOMBARDO: “I love what I do for a living”

While participating in the latest episode of the “Last Words” podcast, former SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo answered a question about how he manages to find time to participate in so many different projects at the moment:

“It’s just my time. I look at it as eight hours of sleep, eight hours for myself, eight hours for work. So, eight hours of sleep – I wake up in the morning. I have a couple of hours – three hours, four hours – for myself and then I go to work. And sometimes in the evening, I break it into pieces. My wife helps me with my schedule, interviews and things like that – just time planning. Just do it, man. If you have two weeks to finish a project, you don’t do anything else, roll up your sleeves and get down to business. I think it’s just the love of what I do, that’s what it’s called. Because if I didn’t love what I do, you wouldn’t be able to force me to do it or I’d be stalling. But because I love what I do for a living, I love it so much, it brings such satisfaction and benefit, it’s easy for me to take on projects.

I have one project to finish right now, I hope to finish it by the 15th and it looks like it will. And I don’t have to take any more projects. And I took up the other one. There are only three songs, but I said: “Okay, I’ll do it for you.” I don’t know, man. I just enjoy what I do and I love it.”
