In a recent interview, Nikki Sixx explained MÖTLEY CRÜE’s absence from BLACK SABBATH’s farewell show, stating:

“It was something we just couldn’t do… We couldn’t have done it even if we wanted to.”

Nikki, who watched the concert’s live stream, was referring to the CRÜE frontman’s recovery from an unspecified medical procedure at the time. The singer has since revealed that procedure was related to a stroke he suffered in late December of last year.

Sixx also reflected on the pivotal role Ozzy Osbourne played in CRÜE’s career when he took the LA hard-rockers on tour as an opening act in 1984.

“To be honest, they helped our band, Ozzy and Sharon. Sharon saw something in the band; it was a perfect fit for Ozzy, and we became very close. Ozzy took us all over the world and did everything for us… and, of course, all those wild and fun stories that are Ozzy. I will forever be in debt to Sharon and Ozzy for that.”

Returning to the “Back To The Beginning” concert, Nikki said with admiration:

“And, man, I gotta tell you — Ozzy, f***, that’s how you go out with a bang! He really did it, and everybody came because they loved him and supported him. Unfortunately, he’s not with us anymore, but we had one of the greatest rock stars of all time who came while we were here, on this planet, and went back to the f***ing stars, man. It’s like, ‘I went down there and kicked some f***ing ass.’ Thank you, Ozzy, every day for the opportunity to have a career!”
