Love is a wild animal It breathes you it looks for you It nests upon broken hearts and goes hunting when there are kisses and candles It sucks tightly on your lips and digs tunnels through your ribs It drops softly like snow First it gets hot then cold in the end it hurts Amour Amour Everyone just wants to tame you Amour Amour in the end caught between your teeth Love is a wild animal It bites and scratches and steps towards me It holds me tightly with a thousand arms and drags me into its love nest It devours me completely and retches me back out after many years It drops softly like snow First it gets hot then cold in the end it hurts Amour Amour Everyone just wants to tame you Amour Amour in the end caught between your teeth Love is a wild animal You fall into its trap It stares into your eyes Spellbound when its gaze hits you Please please give me poison |
The song talks about love and the pain that goes with it. The song compares love to a wild animal that looks forward to catch and keep people with its long teeth and arms. It also talks about the subtle nature of love (lässt sich fallen weich wie schnee- it falls like soft snow) but also how it often ends ( am ende tut es weh- at the ends it hurts).
Love is a wild beast you hear it breathe then your deceased
Nested on all broken hearts then it goes hunting the game starts
Cling so tightly to your lips then it cuts its way right through your ribs
Let’s itself fall soft as snow claws cold as ice you’ll know you’ll give into their hold
Amour Amour
We wish you’d be ours to tame
Amour Amour
In the end we’re caught between your fangs and maimed
Love is a wild beast it bites and scratches chops and tears
Grabs me fiercely and it’s teeth and drags me screaming to it’s lair
It’s me up with hair and skin then wretches me into the bin
That’s itself fall soft as snow
Claws cold as ice you know you’ll give into their hold
Amour Amour
We wish you’d be ours too tame
Amour Amour
In the end were caught between your fangs and maimed
Love is a wild beast you hear it breathe then your deceased
Nested on all broken hearts, then it goes hunting, the game starts
Eats me up with hair and skin, then wretches me into the bin
Let’s itself Fall soft as snow
Claws cold as ice you know you’ll give into their hold
Amour Amour
We wish you’d be ours to tame
Amour Amour
In the end we’re caught between your fangs and maimed
Love is a scavenging wild beast sniffing its way to its feast
Feeding on your pain and fear savoring your every tear
Love is a scavenging wild beast sniffing its way to its feast
Feeding on your pain and fear savoring your every tear
Im begging begging for your sting
Im begging begging for your sting
Begging begging for your sting
even though I don’t know German (I’m persian) the first time I listened to this song I felt a lot of emotions in it, now that I read the lyrics I understand why
So Do I 🙂 Im persian as well
Same here(I’m also persian) . I felt something warm but painful in my chest when i first heard this song
I love this song so much <3
Wouldn’t “Frisst mich auf mit Haut und Haar” translate into “Eats me with Skin and Hair” (Sex maybe? “Eating him” meaning of course, er, taking his member?) instead of “It devours me completely” (Which would be somewhere around “Es verschlingt mich völlig” if translated back into German verbatim)
“mit Haut und Haar” is a german expression that can best be translated as “completely” or “totally”
so it would be “eats me up completely”
True, it is an idiomatic expression, but given that the metaphor is of a wild animal and the expression is of the same origin (some animals eat their prey whole), the literal translation works as well I think.
Digs tunnels through your ribs, if that’s not one of the most accurate descriptions of the feeling I’ve heard I don’t know what is.
is there anything normal that Till and his Bad think ?
Nope, Rammstein is just a bunch of lunatics, either that, or they’re really good at making twisted songs about twisted things sung from the perspective of twisted people, probably the latter, if I’m being honest. If not, than other bands like KMFDM and every rapper ever would have ALOT of explaining to do!
So the lyric should be “wuergt mich wieder aus” not “wirbt”
yo, guys… Treten also means to step depending on the context so it is perfectly right. Try to learn that there are different meanings for words and that the most common one isn´t always the right one 🙂
exactly, I was reading through all the comments, waiting for someone to explain this 🙂 actually here the translation is right. It means not ‘kicks at you’, but “steps towards you; comes to you”
I adore the lyrics of Rammstein. In original they are even better than if someone tries to translate them. I came to Germany and learnt German only to understand Rammstein 😀
Oké, so no one has comment since last year,
but all i want to say is..
This is NOT poetry…
this is first class ART..
Such a beautiful true song!
And guitar at the beginning is just awesome!
@Artemis Yeah I agree with you though all my friends think it’s stupid…
Even tho I’m not much into ballades, I love this song… Only they could explain love in such a beautiful and cruel way… Feels like bein teared appart and eaten alive…
What a poetry!
