Wenn sie Brust schwimmt ist das schön | It’s beautiful when she swims the breaststroke |
dann kann ich in ihr Zentrum sehn | Then I can see into her core |
Nicht dass die Brust das Schöne wär | Not that the breast is what’s beautiful |
Ich schwimm ihr einfach hinterher | I just swim after her |
Funkenstaub fließt aus der Mitte | Sparking dust flows from the center |
ein Feuerwerk springt aus dem Schritt | A firework shoots from her crotch |
Feuer und Wasser kommt nicht zusammen | Fire and water don’t come together |
Kann man nicht binden sind nicht verwandt | Can’t be bound, aren’t related |
In Funken versunken steh ich in Flammen | Sunken in sparks, I am aflame |
und bin im Wasser verbrannt | and am burned in the water |
Im Wasser verbrannt | Burned in the water |
Wenn sie nackt schwimmt ist das schön | It’s beautiful when she swims naked |
dann will ich sie von hinten sehn | then I want to see her from behind |
Nicht dass die Brüste reizvoll wären | Not that the breasts are attractive |
Die Beine öffnen sich wie Scheren | Her legs open like scissors |
Dann leuchtet heiß aus dem Versteck | Then from its hiding place, the flame |
die Flamme aus dem Schenkeleck | glows hotly from her thigh-angle |
Sie schwimmt vorbei bemerkt mich nicht | She swims past and doesn’t notice me |
Ich bin ihr Schatten sie steht im Licht | I am her shadow, she stands in the light |
Da ist keine Hoffnung und keine Zuversicht denn | There is no hope and no confidence |
So kocht das Blut in meinen Lenden | Like this, the blood boils in my loins |
Ich halt sie fest mit nassen Händen | I grab her with wet hands |
Glatt wie ein Fisch und kalt wie Eis | Smooth as a fish and cold as ice |
sie wird sich nicht an mich verschwenden | She won’t waste herself on me |
Ich weiß | I know |
Feuer und Wasser kommt nie zusammen | Fire and water never come together |
Kann man nicht binden sind nicht verwandt | Can’t be bound, aren’t related |
In Funken versunken steh ich in Flammen | Sunken in sparks, I am aflame |
und bin im Wasser verbrannt | and am burned in the water |
In the chorus of “Feuer und Wasser” (Fire and water) , Till Lindemann sings “Feuer und Wasser kommt nicht zusammen” (Fire and water doesn’t come together). While this would be grammatically incorrect, the use of the singular third person verb kommt rather than the plural kommen indicates the intent for fire and water to be viewed as a single entity. Thus, a literal translation would be “Fire and water doesn’t come together”. In fact, when Till Lindemann sings this sentence, he doesn’t say “da kommt nicht…”. (fire and water, (it) doesn’t come together). This song tells of a man who is madly in love with a woman that has no interest in him (Sie schwimmt vorbei bemerkt mich nicht, Ich bin ihr Schatten sie steht im Licht|She swims past and doesn’t notice me, I am her shadow, she stands in her light).
i loved the song before even knowing the meaning.. but when I did find out what it was about, I almost choked and coudn’t breath due to relevance. just amazing and recent nyc visit was amazing.
Moriarty, I Know how you feel. This song is basically explaing what is happening to me too. And I haven’t listened to it that many times yet. It is a good song, may be as good as Ohne Dich. The beat is great, The lyrics are impressive. Rammstein, PLEASE TELL ME WHEN YOUR NEXT ALBUM IS COMING OUT!
this song, damn
i’ve heard it a 100 times before,but i didn’t really care for it,but now it’s different as it’s exactly what’s happening 2 me right now
Till is amazing in this, u can tell he suffered a lot in this situation
whatever, beautiful song
Simply… Breath-taking…The lyrics completely reflect my current condition…The melody evokes the deepest of emotions…
This, people, is MUSIC. Speaks to the soul. Rock on, Rammstein. Keep on creating real music. Not these pop-ish superficial “songs” that come out nowadays,if they can be called that…
Sorry for my bad english, but I’m from Greece 🙂
@Bassyouni – What meds are you on, and can I meet your psychiatrist? 😛
This song is rather about pedophilia & terrorism. A German man loves a mermaid who is actually busy planning to set NewYork on fire? So they cannot mix. Because she’s all the time in the water. While he’s waiting beside the statue of liberty (which is carrying a burning a torch, yes). What the fuck is this song about? A man seeing through the crotch of his focking center, ja!
Harris wrote:
*This song is written for me…
it describes my story, For the GIRL that will never waste herself on me. :’(
GOD! I LOVE HER!*
I think its part of the story of most people’s love-life.
Everybody I know has had at least one unanswered love…
I’m a lucky man because the woman that first helped me grow emotionally by giving me the pain of rejecting me (as many did) at age 16, fell for me 14 years later.
(There were a few other serious relationships inbetween, but she was the first and I hope she will be the last!)
Exactly Harris and Peter.
Beautiful song, fantastic lyrics, Till sings amazing in this song.
Rammstein rocks the world!
beautiful song.. Like Harris said, it describes the life experience of many of us.
Also, there might be a different meaning in the song – the man doesnt want to show his love to the girl, because he knows that they will not match, like water doesnt match the fire. So maybe the girl doesnt reject him, she just doesnt know about him.
This song is written for me…
it describes my story, For the GIRL that will never waste herself on me. :'(
GOD! I LOVE HER!
