Die Nacht öffnet ihren Schoß | The night opens her lap |
Das Kind heißt Einsamkeit | The child’s name is loneliness |
Es ist kalt und regungslos | It is cold and motionless |
Ich weine leise in die Zeit | I cry softly into time |
Ich weiß nicht wie du heißt | I don’t know what your name is |
Doch ich weiß dass es dich gibt | But I know that you exist |
Ich weiß dass irgendwann | I know that sometime |
irgendwer mich liebt | someone will love me |
He comes to me every night | He comes to me every night |
No words are left to say | No words are left to say |
With his hands around my neck | With his hands around my neck |
I close my eyes and pass away | I close my eyes and pass away |
I don’t know who he is | I don’t know who he is |
In my dreams he does exist | In my dreams he does exist |
His passion is a kiss | His passion is a kiss |
And I can not resist | And I can not resist |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Don’t die before I do | Don’t die before I do |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Stirb nicht vor mir | Don’t die before I do |
I don’t know who you are | I don’t know who you are |
I know that you exist | I know that you exist |
Stirb nicht | Don’t die |
Sometimes love seems so far | Sometimes love seems so far |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Your love I can’t dismiss | Your love I can’t dismiss |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Alle Häuser sind verschneit | All the houses are covered in snow |
Und in den Fenstern Kerzenlicht | And candle light in the windows |
Dort liegen sie zu zweit | They lie there together |
Und ich | And I |
Ich warte nur auf dich | I only wait for you |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Don’t die before I do | Don’t die before I do |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Stirb nicht vor mir | Don’t die before I do |
I don’t know who you are | I don’t know who you are |
I know that you exist | I know that you exist |
Stirb nicht | Don’t die |
Sometimes love seems so far | Sometimes love seems so far |
Ich warte hier | I wait here |
Your love I can’t dismiss | Your love I can’t dismiss |
Stirb nicht vor mir | Don’t die before I do |
“Stirb nicht vor mir // Don’t die before I do” is uniquely different compared to Rammstein’s other songs. It is dominated by clean, arpeggiated guitars, with no distorted guitar to be found on the track. “Stirb nicht vor mir” is a duet, featuring Sharleen Spiteri from the British band Texas on vocals along with Till Lindemann. Till sings in German as usual, but Sharleen’s lyrics are in English.
A strictly German version may be released sometime in the future. Christian “Flake” Lorenz expressed dissatisfaction with the current song in an online chat with fans: “I hope that we can release the German version. The English version is not good, IMO. I don’t know how English speakers feel about it. For me it’s just embarrassing. In the German version, Bobo sings it.”
When asked about up-coming music videos in a recent interview, Richard mentioned that the next video will be for Stirb nicht vor mir, saying: “We will do one more for the duet with Sharleen.”
This simple but yet so powerful song just became my birthday present and I loved it…
This reminds me of a depressing thought I had: What if someone’s soul mate died? Are you still going to wait or just get on with your life and accept that you will never find your true love? Or both?
In the beginning, “The night opens her lap
The child’s name is loneliness
It is cold and motionless”
I think he’s describing when the night comes it is lonely without another person to love. The song seems very sad and I can relate. Till needs a good hug. ?
Fortunately, none are obliged to think of “soulmate” in such a fatalistic way. To my mind, the term means more of one who compliments the heights, depths, breadths and dimensions beyond of a person’s “soul,” as defined in the Platonic sense (I do not have a soul; I am a/my soul). So, in that regard, “soulmate” isn’t necessarily limited to one person, so not only should one such super-complimentary person be lost, would hope for such deeply meaning intimate connection lost forever, there are multiple chances for such connection to occur through one’s lifetime. Personally, I find this to be more encouraging to be as true as possible to oneself, but especially as it pertains to finding that special “forever” person.
I’m betting Till has no problem finding feminine embrace(s)
Amazing song, but I wonder; what’s it about? I kinda know, but not really.
Esta cancion es simplemente lo mejor, cada frase va entrelazada con cada nota haciendote sentir realmente como lo desea Rammstein, es una de mis canciones favoritas, atrapa tu alama y la deja sentir ! Es hermosa
It is very poetic but have any of you idiots stopped to think about the rhyming if it was all sang in german because I am pretty sure it wouldn’t rhyme but have not checked this. This is my favourite rammstein song I have listened to rammstein a lot over the last few months and at first links 2 3 4 was my favourite then it was roter sand and now I have just downloaded every rammstein song on Spotify and after listening to all of them this is my favourite through and through. As soon as it finishes I just have to play it again at least five times lol. LOVE IT SSOOOOO MUCH
I love this song exactly as it is written and recorded! I’m sure German speaking fans would like a version sung completely in German, but I think this is a beautiful song that clearly shows the diversity of the band’s talents.
There’s a leaked demo of this song on youtube. It’s all in German, has slightly different lyrics giving a sadder tone, and it’s only Till singing. Personally, I wish this version were released instead of what was on the album.
Video has lyrics in both German and English.
