(Raz dva tri) Moskau! This song is about the most beautiful city in the world. Moscow! This city is a prostitute She has red spots on her forehead Her teeth are made of gold She's fat and yet so lovely Her mouth falls to my valley when I pay her for it She takes off her clothes but only for money The city that keeps me in suspense Moscow One, two, three! Moscow Look! Pioneers are walking around there, singing songs to Lenin. She is old and nevertheless beautiful I can't resist her I can't resist She powders her old skin and has gotten her breasts rebuilt rebuilt She makes me horny I suffer torment She dances for me I have to pay I have to pay She sleeps with me but only for money It's still the most beautiful city in the world Moscow One, two, three! Moscow Look! Pioneers are walking around there, singing songs to Lenin. Moscow One, two, three! Moscow Look! Pioneers are walking around there, singing songs to Lenin. I see something, that you don't see When you close your eyes When you sleep deeply in the night I see something, that you don't see When you kneel before me When you lie before me I see something that you don't see When you talk to me When you talk to me I see something, that you'll never see One, two, three! Moscow One, two, three! Moscow Look! Pioneers are walking around there, singing songs to Lenin. |
Rumored to have originally been intended as a duet with Yulia Volkova of Russian pop duo t.A.T.u., it instead features the vocals of Viktoria Fersh, whose voice bears a strong resemblance to Volkova’s. The song refers to the Russian capital of Moscow and features two perspectives on the city: its beauty and culture, and the undercurrents of corruption and prostitution.
Dude, I’m not Russian. However, I am part Croatian and speak and write it fluently. It’s close enough to Russian (in speech only) that even I can pick out:
“Kogda ti predo mnoi legish” is incorrectly translated. It’s “When you lie next to me”, not “before me”.
And “Kogda so mnou govorish” isn’t anything about touching with lips. It’s “when you talk to me”.
Fix it. It’s beyond irritating seeing a few people correct the translation and it still remain incorrect.
And seriously, to that idiot asking about Communism, all you’re doing is perpetuating a stigma, just like when someone mentions Germany, you can guarantee someone will jump in with Nazi or Hitler. Let it go. Evolve. The rest of us have.
“When you touch me with your mouth
When you close your eyes
When you kneel before me”-where did you get it from?! there is otjhing like this in the song!!
You may not know as it’s not very common word in Russia but “predo” (Kogda ti predo mnoi legish) means “next to” not before.
@Hans Well, its just Moskow and all Russia still has a lot of things left from USSR times. Buildings, equipment, monument and finally still a lot of people think in socialistic way. Such a long period of time can’t be easily forgotten. But I think Rammstein used this to show that Russia still wants to be a “big brother” to other countries as she used to be.
@Fallen Angel: Dear remember: THERE IS NO DEMOCRACY IN RUSSIA!!! lol
Soccerkidguy:
Ja, mozhet, i ne rossijanka, no russkij znaju horosho. 😉
And you may want to change your “verification phrase” – it sounds a bit awkward for someone who speaks Russian. 🙂
Heilegergeist:
Thats what I was thinking too but I checked Muller’s vocabulary and its “pioneers” there.
Hans:
Moscow existed long before Soviet Union and before even Russian Empire. The song is about city itself, I think, without any political context.
And yes, “kogda so mnou govorish” means “when you talk to me” or “when you speak to me” and mentions nothing about lips or anything else headed that way.
Hans, this song deals with the city’s beauty yet the song sings about the corruption in the city probably caused from the communist era. Nothing to do with communists, as the Russian federation is a democratic nation and has been for 20ish years
No, all the corruption talked about in the song is, from the creation of the Russian Federation, how it ruined many things. Prostitution for example. The Beautiful things are about what was before the 90’s. The culture, mainly. Btw, the system in Russia right now is WAAAY more corrupt than it was in the USSR.
you must be joking
he isnt.
Best song ever for cardio/aerobic exercise… just as bestrafe mich is awesome for strength training
Why the fuck would Rammstein sing about communism are they communists????
They are socialists, or at best, social-democrats
The “Pioneri” mentioned in the chorus aren’t meant as literal pioneers; it refers to the Russian Pioneri youth organization, roughly equivalent to the Boy/Girl Scouts of America.
The girl singing the russian lyrics is this girl http://www.myspace.com/viktoriafersh
er…this is a group of 4 girls singing/dancing-the link tells us nothing
they sure are fucking hot, though!
Maria kelidou from Greece! = Mofo alert.
