In a new interview with RichardMetalFan, FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares talks about the departure in 2020 of the band’s original vocalist, Burton C. Bell’a:
“Over the years, I’ve seen him have a suitcase mood – he’s always been like that. He originally left the band in 2002, and then he came back to the band and restarted it with the other guys without me. At least that’s what I thought. But I don’t know. I never fully found out why they did that. But it seemed to me that he always wanted to go, and I think that time has come, for whatever reason. I mean, to know his reason for leaving, you’d have to ask him yourself. But he pretty much left me with all the responsibilities of working on the last [FEAR FACTORY] album, “Aggression Continuum”. And now I’ve moved on without him, the band will exist without him. He’s moved on, and so have I. Fans can cry all they want, and people can want anything. And I understand that. He was in the band for many years, and he was the only vocalist on this record, even though he left the band two or three times before that. But he left, and I’ve moved on, and so has he.”
Dino also talked about the new FEAR FACTORY vocalist, whose identity has not yet been revealed:
“It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m not afraid. I’ve dealt with something like this before. I’m ready to move forward. I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s going to be fucking awesome. It’s going to be killer. I’m going to put out some more heavy shit. So I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. My vocalist is great. He’s younger, he’s about 30 years old. I think he’s at the peak of his form. He’s ready to go. We’re not making any announcements yet, but people will find out soon enough.”
