I just saw something that might have been the new album cover art for Made in Germany. Another Michael Jackson album? No, this is Rammstein! (source: rammstein.de). And why does Ollie have his eyes closed? Because Michael Jackson is dead?
And here we have another great similarity found by our visitors (thanx nicky):
Question of the day: Why would a band singing about blood coagulating on the asphalt want to be as soft as Beach boys or Michael Jackson before the upcoming tour? Feel free to comment in the comment section 🙂
death masks has no meaning, like they’re quitting. come on.
There are death masks on the cover because it’s friggin awesome
Personally I don’t feel it’s a matter of lack of creativity or they’re running out of ideas.
About the album cover of Made in Germany I don’t see any link to MJ’s Invisible album cover.
But the death mask images of the members could mean that the members will soon retire or go their separate ways,
1. Till once said that he wishes to retire when he’s 50.
2. “Haifisch” music video depicted a funeral (that of Till) implicating that Till might retire, but then we see him alive in the Caribbean implicating that it is just a possibility, leaving other possibilities open in the future.
3. The B-Side to the single Mein Land is called “Vergiss uns nich” (Don’t forget us), which could mean the fans must not forget the band.
4. Richard will be working on a new Emigrate album, there could be 2 possibilities that either the band will take another break or they might go their separate ways.
And the single cover of Mein Land is very similar to that of the Beach Boys “Surfer Girls”, the video looks very similar to the 60’s – 70s and maybe the Beach Boys inspired their video so they don’t want to take all the credit but they want to share it with those who inspired them for such a video.
Linking the 2
Conclusion
Michael Jackson’s dead, so this means that they’re going their separate ways and the beach background means retirement.
OR
They’re not sure about what they’re going to do either retire or go their separate ways or take a break
(Let’s hope their just taking a break.)
I think they chose Olli for the MIG cover just because his bust kind of looks like those old Greek marble carvings, with his features being so sharp compared to the other members. And why should all of their stuff be dark and gruesome? Herzeleid had flowers everywhere for gods sake and I think they look pretty classy with the new cover. And I think the MJ thing is just a coincidence really…
As for the Mein Land thing, they purposely mimicked the Beach Boys, and Hilarity Ensued.
The “Made in Germany” album cover should not be compared with micheal jackson because it is just an album cover that has all the band members Death Masks it has nothing to do with micheal jackson. and for the beach boy thing in mein land there just making fun of the typical life style of a 1964 California beach boys because near the end of the video there dressed industrial and the party is wild.
The Made in Germany covers are actually photos of the plaster casts the band made for a music video, I can’t figure out which one. They’re plaster casts, anyway. The band look too young for it to be for Keine Lust; also, Olli had to shave for that fat-suit. Who knows. Maybe Du hast?
Also, Olli is the most artistically beautiful of all the band members. No reason why he shouldn’t be on the cover.
Is this question merely a provocation, like a first year philosophy question? I hope so. Obviously Rammstein like to toy with a range of concepts, often with irony, to express humour and sarcasm. There may well be some underlying respect for the BB’s or MJ, and rightly so, but I think the Sarcasm is quite pronounced really, don’t’ you.
Looks a lot like a “death mask”, like they did for Kings and Queens back in the day after they died. The end is nigh…
Rhyming “nicht” and “Gesicht” to the death is not a big sign of creativity either.
I as well don’t think there is resemblance between MIG and Michael Jackson, I do agree with the Mein Land one(just made me laugh when I saw it). For some reason I think that the MIG covers are not the final ones, they might be messing around with us, either way those covers are cool!
I don’t think the MIG album cover is in any way inspired by Michael Jackson. MJ’s is just a photo of him turned white, R+ is a bust of the head and just plain white.
Because it’s obviously a joke; Rammstein have a sense of humour. Many of their lyrics and music videos portray this!
I think I remember in one interview that Till said that he and the boys are actually funny ppl who like joking and laughing and that they wanted to show that side of their personalities to the fans. Also, Till said in the making of Reise, Reise video said that the anger from Herzeleid (sp?) was gone. Maybe this is their way of being humorous? After all, the Mein Land teaser trailer was pretty funny with them doing the Twist and everything.
Personally, I’m looking forward to a new humorous R+ if that’s the direction they want to go in.
thanks for the tip Joachim! Schneider looks a little weird in his picture, and Flake is missing part of his ear, this is so cool!
Please take a look on the official website and then click on the “Edition buttons” of made in Germany. Now the other band members also appear similar to the picture of Oliver. Looks cool!
I think the covers (If they did resemble others) have some sort of meaning to them or Rammstein are just being funny.
Lets not forget Rammstein made Pussy as somewhat of a joke, why not make a funny album cover?
Richard once said something about how Germans too can be funny even after WWII and the Berlin wall….
