Ich seh’ dich an und mir wird schlecht | I look at you and I get sick |
Überall das dralle Fleisch | Everywhere this buxom flesh |
Ich schau’ dir tief in das Geschlecht | I look deep into your gender |
Und die Knie werden weich | And the knees get soft |
Tausend Nadeln, das Verlangen | A thousand needles, the desire |
Will Geruch mit Händen fangen | Want to catch the scent with my hands |
Weiß, das Hirn kriecht in die Venen | I know the brain is crawling into the veins |
Und es singen die Sirenen | And the sirens sing |
Eine Faust in meinem Bauch | A fist in my stomach |
Komm her, du willst es doch auch | Come here, you want it too |
Sex! Komm zu mir | Sex! Come to me |
Meins ist deins und das in dir | Mine is yours and that inside of you |
Sex! Komm mit mir | Sex! Come with me |
Denn besser widerlich als wieder nicht | Rather disgusting than again nothing |
Wir leben nur einmal | We only live once |
Wir lieben das Leben | We love life |
Ich seh’ dich an und mir ist schlecht | I look at you and I feel six |
Häute fallen auf die Haut | Skins fall onto the skin |
Ich schau’ dir tiefer ins Geschlecht | I look deeper into your gender |
Leib und Brüste gut gebaut | Body and breasts well formed |
Es ist ein Beben, ist ein Schwingen | It’s not quaking, it’s swinging |
Und die Sirenen singen | And the sirens sing |
Ein Verlangen unterm Bauch | A desire inside of my stomach |
Komm her, denn du willst es doch auch | Come here, you want it too! |
Wir lieben das Leben | We love life |
Wir lieben die Liebe | We love love |
Wir leben | We live |
Sex! | Sex! |
Hahahaha, ja | Ha ha ha ha, yes |
Wir leben nur einmal | We only live once |
Wir lieben das Leben | We love life |
Wir lieben die Liebe | We love love |
Wir leben … bei Sex! (Sex, Sex, Sex) | We live… during sex (sex, sex, sex) |
Sex! (Sex, Sex, Sex) | Sex! (sex, sex, sex) |
Sex! (Sex, Sex, Sex) | Sex! (sex, sex, sex) |

Translation Notes:
Its almost like a parody of all their sexually-themed songs, being more erotic than vulgar (in stark contrast with “Pussy”, for example), while also refusing to beat around the bush about it’s theme. Its very straightforward about a comparatively “vanilla” topic.
The word “sex” can used the same way in English as Owo described, though it’s slightly more archaic. The kind of thing a fantasy story would use when it’s embarrassing itself.
You should probably not translate Geschlecht to “gender” its more likely more something like “reproductive organ” since both words are the same in german, and this song being about sex i think it works better.
There are the same lines in the demo version of Gibt Mir Deinen Augen:
“Beisst das Hirn, kriecht in die Venen
Ach, es singen die Sirenen”

That’s why I am interested in this so much, I have remembered those lines in no time, makes me to love this song so much. 🙂
By the lyrics in Apple Music, it’s not “Weiss, das Hirn kriecht in die Venen” but “Beisst das Hirn, kriecht in die Venen”.
Can someone confirm which is the proper one?
“Ein Verlangen unterm Bauch” – “A desire inside of my stomach”. Completely wrong. “unterm Bauch” – is “under abdomen”, I think. It is into text.
The end is Wir leben, weil Sex – we live because of sex
Only Till can write like this
I think “Geschlecht” translates to sex, not gender. “Sex” as in physical trait, not the act of intercourse, is sometimes used to refer to specifically genitals (rather than the categories of male, female, intersex). It is used this way in erotic writing in texts that avoid more low brow choice of words like “pussy”.
It would work better in the context too, say “I look deep into your sex, and the knees get soft”, “I look deeper into your sex, body and breasts well formed” (fits particularly well here as it refers to specifically looking at her body, the order of the words could imply looking at her from the bottom of her torso to the top, taking her all in).
The lyrics are certainly erotic, but they’re not particularly vulgar or explicit. I’m very certain “Geschlecht” means sex here, and sex that means vulva. Compare Pussy to Sehnsucht, both about having sex (or lack of), very different choice of words (regardless of language). Sehnsucht is more explicit about the acts than this song, but they still chose innuendo over dirty slang.
I would say this is about gender indeology. Not about act of sex.
This song is, indeed, about sex.
Can’t be.
a truly revolutionary take on this song
I doubt that
I believe this song is about sex.
