"Rammstein Paris": Next live DVD?

^I doubt that will be the reaction. It seems that Rammstein don't really care much about reception, with the exception of their live show and concerts. At least that's what they claim, and that's how it appears. I do think that the band likes Åkerlund regardless. Not everyone liked the "Pussy" and "Mein Land" video, but the band still tried to hire him as often as possible.

Serious question.. *IF* there is a big backlash from this film.. (and yes we should keep positive for now) will it see the band avoiding working with Jonas in the future on music videos? Rammstein live releases have always been a big deal (and this one was very expensive) and if the fan reception towards this is bad will it make the band think twice about using him again for projects?

The Chaser ^ I don't think so. I think the only difference between this version and the DVD version will be the additional 5 songs. The film is what it is whether we like it or not. Too much work would have gone into the effects just for it to be shown in cinema and never ever again. From day one this concert film was meant to be unique and different. Again whether we like it or not. It's an experiment that the band would seem to approve of. In some ways we need to stop thinking of it as a live concert and simply a film.

^I think it's a little too early to say that "many" reviews have been negative. Out of the 4 that I have read, 3 were positiv and 1 somewhat unenthusiastic about the film. While I know that for example Steven Spielberg's "E.T" was released on DVD with the option to change between it's original theatrical release and the 2002 remastered version with added effects, because of complaints that people wanted to see the original. I doubt that this will be the case here. They simply don't have the time to respond so quickly (assuming they would).As far as recent reviews go, this one: ( http://www.tagesspiegel.de/kultur/ko...19516090.html# ) actually called "Rammstein: Paris" the best concertfilm in decades, and said the film introduced a new style to the genre.

And the people at the cinema and the people buying the dvd will be largely the same.

As i saw, until this moment there are quite a lot of negative revirews. Most of them are related to those exaggerated effects: snake tongue during MGM and vampire teeths for the from row fans. In my opinion that's just way too much.

Today I was thinking about this upcoming DVD and I said "what if the "physical release will be without those effects?" Somehow it makes sense, let's think: extra work was required to edit the show for the cinemas, to cut off 5 songs and they used the opportunity to add those extra effects just for the cinema version, ofcourse in order to cause all kind of reations. Remember, negative or positive reactions are both a type of promo. So they used the extra opportunity with this cinema release to test the reaction of fans, to have fun with all kind of new experiments, to offer something different etc. Not to mention that this cinema release it is adressed not just to the fans, but to a wider public.

Following these arguments, I would say that when the DVD does come out, it's gonna be without those effects. First of all because the DVD will be bought only by the fans, those who are not fans and already saw the show in cinemas, they won't spend a damn euro for a physical release. Also, the cinema version, at least from what i've heard, it is focused more on the band, not the fans, it's some kind of atrsy fartsy stuff for a wider public.

Meh I've always struggled to get on board with the Nimes film. Half the footage is from Birmingham (and looks better, not the crowd but camera quality) and overall the audio was a bit weak. Till's voice was suffering by that point of the tour. I'll always prefer the Brixton 2005 footage/audio.. but I'm biast as I was there

But according to RammsteinWorld, after the fact the filming of the Bercy show got cancelled, the band was looking for a large outdoor show or festival appearance to film. They landed on Nimes, but when they were at the location they had to improvise. The couldn't mount any cranes, and placing dollies and tracks was also apparantly not done. So they filmed a lot with handheld cameras, and some of the footage became hard to use. Here is were i used the word "sloppy". Maybe I should have used "rushed" or "unprepared".However, they were able to find the best material in editing, and used some footage from Birmingham. I love the final product, the Nimes footage is in my opinion among the best concert-films I know.

Okay, that's an entire different matter to me than "sloppy" . Than I follow you.

Hmm, these extra effects seem weird for me, and it doesn't strike me as a positive thing just yet, but it might have a better effect than we all think now. I'll rest in silence about it untill I've seen it. About the audience being more or less soundless and a bit absent as well, though that strikes me as the weirdest aspect: how does this all work well without the audience participation? I can't imagine it being the same feeling as if you were at the concert (despite that being the purpose of the director), but again, I'll watch it before I judge it.

@Chrisss Nofff: you say the filming of Völlkerbal was somewhat sloppy ? Why??? Never heard anything but great stuff about the filming and I can't see why I wouldn't agree!

They approved it of course, but they don't always have good ideas. I can't forget how they destroyed the MHB video, I love the Recuenco's video and I would like to see a complete Zoran Bihac version, not that mix.

I've just gone back and watched that video. I really like it although there are a few elements that don't work. The opening when the music comes in doesn't seem to fit well. However with an addition of a couple of shots I think it could have been fixed. The final version was okay but I liked the design/character elements of Recuenco's version. Slightly off topic now hehe

^Ramm91I know, but everything Jonas did, the band approved. He said in the interview that in his discussions with the band, they would tell him if he went too far. But aside from that, they wanted him to create his own movie the way he wanted.
