Tickets sold out in only thirty minutes for the legendary German band Rammstein’s December 11 performance at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City. This will be the only US show by the Berlin-based six-piece band, which has not performed in the United States since 2001. The show was announced September 27, tickets went on sale for the show Friday, October 8 at noon Eastern and before an hour passed, tickets were officially sold out. This makes Rammstein the first German band in history to accomplish such a feat.
In a recent interview with Seattle Gay News, Rammstein guitarist Richard Kruspe was asked when fans could expect to see the band perform in America again. “Good question,” he replied. “Actually, we talked about it today, a lot. What we plan to do right now is a lot of things — we’re not 20 anymore, so things have changed for us. At the moment, it looks like America is the only market where we cannot provide the same show as we play in the rest of the world. So we have to be balanced, like, what makes financial sense? One of my dreams is Madison Square Garden — just to play one show and to feel out, like if there is a need for us, are people waiting for us, what can we do, what would be the next step? It can change, nothing is set in stone, nothing is confirmed, but we’ve talked about what’s the best thing, so the fans are happy and the band is happy. But I’m a big supporter of the American market.”

Lets not foget how big the US is. Its probably the size of Europe. A European country is about the size of an American state. (Germany is about the size of Texas) And if you live on the West Coast and you want to go see them in NYC, its like having to cross all of Europe. An example from Portugal to Estonia. Thats almost 3,000 Miles. And the US has 50 States!
So for example if they were playing a show in Berlin, even people in Iraq have a better shot than us. And you guys complaint XD lol
I’m super mad! I stayed up for 35 hours so I wouldn’t be asleep when tickets went on sale. I was too picky with the seats-looked at about six different ones, then it said they were sold out. I think it’s BS that scalpers are able to do this.
Stella: they don’t care about USA. And what now? I won’t see a lot of my fav bands live, coz they won’t come into Hungary. I don’t blame them, it is their choice – I just see the live recordings. You have to be happy to see them on that day (did you buy a ticket?).
30 minutes.. nice! Tickets to their last february gig in Finland were sold out in 6 minutes :). And I also prefer Canada to USA
I totally agree with you stella. That shit is just jacked up. Hopefully we at elast get another show on the states, California preferably lol. xD
i dont blame them for not caring about their american fans!!! lol
heh…Combichrist has been touring with them this past summer in Europe. If I had the spare funds, it would have been a good excuse to go visit & catch a show.
Must be a nice boost for their egos… shame so many of the tickets went to scalpers rather than actual fans. I hope they realize they could have prevented this by doing an actual tour, rather than going for the one big attention-getting, ego-stroking Madison Square Garden show. Then again, that would be more effort on their part, and we all know they don’t give a shit about their American fans.
Let’s see… two shows in Canada this year, which has a population of about 30 million. One show in America in 9 years, which has a population of 300 million.
