Auf einer Brücke ziemlich hoch On a bridge, quite high
Hält ein Mann die Arme auf A man holds his arms open
Da steht er nun und zögert noch There he stands and still hesitates
Die Menschen strömen gleich zuhauf Right away the people swarm in droves
Auch ich lass mir das nicht entgehen I won’t miss out on it either
Das will ich aus der Nähe sehen I want to see it up close
Ich stell mich in die erste Reihe I get into the first row
und schreie And scream

Der Mann will von der Brücke steigen The man wants to climb from the bridge
Die Menschen fangen an zu hassen The people begin to hate
Bilden einen dichten Reigen They form a dense crowd
Und wollen ihn nicht nach unten lassen And don’t want to let him down
So steigt er noch mal nach oben So he climbs back up
Und der Mob fängt an zu toben And the mob begins to rage
Sie wollen seine Innereien They want his innards
Und schreien And scream

Spring Jump
Erlöse mich Redeem me
Spring Jump
Enttäusch mich nicht Don’t disappoint me
Spring für mich Jump for me
Spring ins Licht Jump into the light
Spring Jump

Jetzt fängt der Mann zu weinen an Now the man begins to cry
Heimlich schiebt sich eine Wolke A cloud moves in secret
fragt sich Was hab ich getan Asking himself what have I done
vor die Sonne es wird kalt in front of the sun, it gets cold
Ich wollte nur zur Aussicht gehen I just wanted to see the view
die Menschen laufen aus den Reihen the people break ranks
und in den Abendhimmel sehen and look into the evening sky
Und sie schreien And they scream

Spring Jump

Sie schreien They scream
Spring Jump
Erlöse mich Redeem me
Spring Jump
Enttäusch mich nicht Don’t disappoint me
Spring für mich Jump for me
Spring ins Licht Jump into the light
Spring Jump

Heimlich schiebt sich eine Wolke A cloud moves in secret
vor die Sonne es wird kalt in front of the sun, it gets cold
Doch tausend Sonnen brennen nur für dich But a thousand suns burn just for you
Ich schleich mich heimlich auf die Brücke I creep onto the bridge in secret
Tret ihm von hinten in den Rücken and kick him in the back from behind
Erlöse ihn von dieser Schmach I redeem him from this shame
und schrei ihm nach and I scream to him

Spring Jump

Spring Jump
Erlöse dich Redeem yourself
Spring Jump
Enttäusch mich nicht Don’t disappoint me
Spring für mich Jump for me
Spring Jump
Enttäusch mich nicht Don’t disappoint me

“Spring” (Jump) is about a man who climbs high onto a bridge just to see the view. A crowd gathers, thinking that he wants to commit suicide and encourages the man to jump. The man tries to climb down but the crowd doesn’t let him. In the end, with people screaming at him, he is kicked off the bridge by a member of the crowd (Till’s “character” in the song), saving him, as they see it, from his shame (of being mentally unable to jump). The song has a very melodic, gentle and melancholy keyboard-based chorus, accompanied by Till’s trademark voice.

  1. One of them said in an interview in one of their dvd’s, that Rammstein’s songs is about love, in all aspects and forms.

This song is about the kind of sick love that the people in the crowd feel for themselves in the act of wanting to see someone die a horrible death. In a way that psychopaths does. So it is quite complex.

One other aspect is the pure self love the man jumping feels when he tries to abort the jump.

  2. I cant be intrepet as someone who has depression (the reason he climbs the bridge), he keeps stays strong and being hopefull (not jumping, just take a look and time for reflecting). but people keeps him down because the people think he is a failure and must redeem what has done (people want him to jump and dont wanna get dissapointed)

  3. I believe this song s about False Accusations and how it ruins the victims lives, as people accuse him for suicide while it s not true and by the time he wants to climb down and explain, he will not succeed and actually things get worse

  4. I kind of think it’s a metaphor about himself (Till) as a performer/man… having to “jump” through hoops to satisfy a crowd, the media/ critics and women. The “pushing” that occurs is himself to do it every time.

  5. This song reminds me of something that happened in the late 00s in Seattle. A man was walking across the Queen Anne bridge, wanting to glance at the view, had no idea of jumping, did not, as cars (do not know how many) passed and people shouted out jump. The man disregarded it, but it probably stuck with him, would have with me for years, and I have not even tried to commit suicide. People do not take suicide well and consider it a sin, a shame. I do not think anyone wanted him to die per say, but did not understand the percussion of what could have happened, and even if one would jump, one would not always die. Upsetting, frightening, and disgusting world we live in.

  6. This song is sad and terrifying, but catchy and real. I see this song from two perspectives, the mob wanted to kill a human, who did not do anything, but at the same time, they thought he was suicidal (since he was standing on top) and viewed that as a mental issue, as a taboo, consequently, wanting him to be out of his misery strangely thinking that they were actually doing him a favor. I wonder how it would have played if the man standing on the bridge told them right away that he had no idea of jumping. Sad yet poignant.

  7. this song it remind me “the hunt”. a film by Thomas Vinterberg. Lucas (the main character) is accused
for something he did’t do. Klara ( also a main character) who start up this charge, isn’t sure for that but she begin to get more and more certain stimulated by all her relatives. so now she hasn’t any doubt that Lucas is guilty so do all the community. and all Lucas life turn into a nightmare from something that never happened. the same in this songs, the main character
suffers and is stimulated from the mob that his real attention was to jump not to see the view.

    • Only in that incident, he was saved at the end, the police helped him down, put him in a box for his own safety (because the crowd was still against him, oddly he even wanted to jump out of the box in spite of this), and desired help. He also had a RPM and threw lights and his cell phone down towards the public. He was on the ashes of a Ferris wheel. The onlookers were drunk, who even sang “jump”, but the 34 year old probably was too. It was 4 am on a Saturday. I do not know how many were there and what their intentions would have been if they were not drunk, but yikes. I do not think though everyone in the crowd wanted him to jump.

  8. Just listened to this song again after some years timeout and just realized how perfect compozed this song is and that this is how rammsten generally sound according to me to produce unique quality music that’s arts rammstein on fire over and over again

  9. a song needs to have 2 major components to be successful…
    1)to be catchy
    2)to appeal to ones interests
this song has captured both those elements and has truly made an awesome song good job rammstein
