According to WaveAdvice this song was originally going to be used as heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s entrance music, but was never used. The demo name of the song was Klitschko. Even without the use as Klitschko’s entrance music, the song still references boxing through the verses and the counting to ten, as a referee does for a potential KO.

Imagination does most of the work in Rammstein’s songs. Till tells you to think depressed and angsty with deep german words and you can and will fill in the blanks as dark as you can.

This song has no clear cut meaning. Originally written for a boxer, tossed around as a song about the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima, ended in Snow White. Make what you want out of the song, not every song has to be about something concrete.

It’s another boxing reference, in continuation of the metaphor. It refers to the trainer icing the boxer’s wounds after the loss.

I believe the lyrics are meant to be “heiß” instead of “eis”; makes more sense, if the sun breaks out, it’s not likely to freeze you, it’s likely to “lie hot on your face” 🙂
Rammstein has started for me from this song 🙂
However my first assosiation wasn’t nuclear bomb or snowhite thought they fit perfectly but movie Parfumer when he is going to be killed and he charmes everybody with the scent if you know what I’m talking about.
