1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9 und aus | 1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9 and out |
Alle warten auf das Licht | All waiting for the light |
fürchtet euch, fürchtet euch nicht | have fear, fear not |
die Sonne scheint mir aus den Augen | the sun shines out of my eyes |
sie wird heut nacht nicht untergehen | she will not go down tonight |
… und die Welt zählt laut bis zehn | … and the world counts loud to ten |
eins… hier kommt die Sonne | one… here comes the sun |
zwei… hier kommt die Sonne | two… here comes the sun |
drei… sie ist der hellste Stern von allen | three… she’s the brightest star of all |
vier… hier kommt die Sonne | four… here comes the sun |
Die Sonne scheint mir aus den händen | the sun shines out of my hands |
kann verbrennen kann euch blenden | can burn, can blind you |
wenn sie aus den Fäusten bricht | if she breaks out of my fists |
legt sich heiss auf das Gesicht | lie hot on your face |
Sie wird heut Nacht nicht untergehen | she would not go down to night |
und die Welt zählt laut bis zehn | and the world counts loud to ten |
eins… hier kommt die Sonne | one… here comes the sun |
zwei… hier kommt die Sonne | two… here comes the sun |
drei… sie ist der hellste Stern von allen | three… she’s the brightest star of all |
vier… hier kommt die Sonne | four… here comes the sun |
fünf… hier kommt die Sonne | five… here comes the sun |
sechs… hier kommt die Sonne | six… here comes the sun |
sieben… sie ist der hellste Stern von allen | seven… she is the brightest star of all |
acht… hier kommt die Sonne | eight… here comes the sun |
Die Sonne scheint mir aus den Händen | the sun shines out of my hands |
kann verbrennen, kann dich blenden | can burn, can blind you |
Wenn sie aus den Fäusten bricht | when she breaks out of my fists |
legt sich heiss auf dein Gesicht | lie hot on your face |
legt sich schmerzend auf die Brust | lays painful on your chest |
das Gleichgewicht wird zum Verlusst | the balance come to loss |
läßt dich hard zu Boden gehen | lets you go down hard |
und die Welt zählt laut bis zehn | and the world counts loud to ten |
eins… hier kommt die Sonne | one… here comes the sun |
zwei… hier kommt die Sonne | two… here comes the sun |
drei… sie ist der hellste Stern von allen | three… she’s the brightest star of all |
vier… und wird nie vom Himmel fallen | four… and will never fall from heaven |
fünf… hier kommt die Sonne | five… here comes the sun |
sechs… hier kommt die Sonne | six… here comes the sun |
sieben… sie ist der hellste Stern von allen | seven… she is the brightest star of all |
acht… hier kommt die Sonne | eight… here comes the sun |
According to WaveAdvice this song was originally going to be used as heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s entrance music, but was never used. The demo name of the song was Klitschko. Even without the use as Klitschko’s entrance music, the song still references boxing through the verses and the counting to ten, as a referee does for a potential KO.
I know what you meen man, highschool amateur wrestling and martial arts team. Good luck on your first fight and let die sonne shine on you.
I’ve got my first MMA fight coming up in 2 months, I will definitely use this song to walk out to. I can’t listen to it without getting psyched up, great song.
@Abicus – in English, we only have the word “the”, whereas in German they have “die”, “der”, “den”, “das”, “dem”, and even more, and each has situations where it’s the correct one to use.
just for you to know, the band had 40 video options before chooosing the snow withe theme. and one of them was the hiroshima bomb, because it fit perfectly.
So, Sonne is about boxing. Never knew that. I must be darker than I expected, because I always interpreted it as being about total nuclear annihilation.
People counting the seconds they still have to live. The sun shining from the eyes and hands, with the potential to blind and burn, I’ve always thought of as contemplating a nuclear strike. The part of breaking out of the fists I always interpreted as losing control and launching the missiles, after which the heat of the initial flash lays hot on your face. Then you feel the pain on your chest as the shockwave knocks you over.
Yep, that’s part of it for sure!….
It was one of the ideas for it. Based off of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Wow, that’s the most contrived interpretation I’ve ever heard. Just because there’s a countdown, and mentions of the sun? Ridiculous man. So cheesy and cliched.
That’s a royal way to use ‘contrived’ since nearly every line in this song could be seen as a reference to an atomic bomb.
The first one is the ‘cheesy and cliched’ reference to the sun, which comes directly from Oppenheimer himself (‘the father of the atomic bomb’). To be more specific, Oppenheimer compared it to “the radiance of a thousands suns bursting out at once”, which in this song becomes “the brightest star of all”. There’s also the lines “the sun won’t set tonight” and of course, if ever an atomic bomb is dropped, you bet that ‘everyone will be waiting for the light’.
Additionally, those who witnessed an atomic bomb were burned and blinded (though temporarily).
About the countdown: in the song it is not just some guy counting to 10, it is the entire world. The entire song also has a very doomsday-esque feel to it, especially the countdown.
There is an official(?) video for this song, which shows some people going (working?) underground. Because of that i thought that the theme was about electricity. 😀
You know, those men working hard to deliver the power (of coil also) from all the stations through underground under cities. So She(Sun, Light) won’t go down tonight, everyone will have their brightest star on the ceiling and then they will count, count the time and power of consumption. I think i’ll just keep it this way for myself. 😀
So it doesnt matter if u use Der or Die? its both Masc and Femn?
Thanks for clearing that up. =)
Both of them Abicus
On this song i can make the best HeadBang ever:D woohoo
I love this song especialy Hitler name in Sonne Place 😛
No offense but Rock on guys \m/
which is correct… Die Sonne “or” Der Sonne?
I note this translation is incorrect — the lyrics are “legt sich heiss auf das Gesicht”, not “Eis”.
Although, this would also work very well; the lyrics would then translate to “The sun shines out of my hands; it can burn, can blind you. When it breaks out of my fists, ice will lay upon your face.”
i heard that one of the other ideas was a video about the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima (which would have matched the lyrics and the depressed-sounding vocalization).
*or 6 dwarfs xD
To Courtney:
Rammstein is not a Swedish band…They’re German xD
And yes, Switzerland is a long way from Amerika… O_O
Till describes writing this song whilst thinking of a boxing match. The counting to ten. He says he pictures the boxer coming into the arena with his arms raised as the audience sings “Hiere kommt die Sonne”.
But it changed to being a musicvideo with Snowwhite and the 7 dwarfs ’cause the band once played the song during the cartoon, and it looked great together.
You should go to youtube.com and see the “Making of…” videos. You learn more about the band and who they are.
I was 8 months pregnant when Rammstein came to the Uk so I couldnt go to their concert. My hubby and all our friends went 🙁 they said it was FANTASTIC….I still regret missing them live.
