Rammstein Feuer Frei! lyric with English translation

 Getadelt wird wer Schmerzen kennt
Vom Feuer das die Haut verbrennt
Ich werf ein Licht
In mein Gesicht
Ein heisser Schrei
Feuer frei!

Geadelt ist wer Schmerzen kennt
Vom Feuer das in Lust verbrennt
Ein Funkenstoss
In ihren Schoss
Ein heisser Schrei
Feuer frei!

Gefaehrlich ist wer Schmerzen kennt
Vom Feuer das den Geist verbrennt
Gefaehrlich das gebrannte Kind
Mit Feuer das vom Leben trennt
Ein heisser Schrei
Feuer frei!
Whoever knows pain becomes criticized
From the fire that burns up the skin
I throw a light
in my face
A hot cry
Fire at will!

Whoever knows pain is raised
From the fire that burns in desire
A sparking thrust
into her womb
A hot cry
Fire at will!

Whoever knows pain is dangerous
From the fire that burns the soul
The burned child is dangerous
With fire that separates from the life
A hot cry
Fire at will!

This song is about releasing anger that has been held in for a long time. It was used as the introductory song to the movie xXx. The literal translation of the title is Fire freely!, while a more idiomatic translation would be Fire at will! or Open fire!.

  1. its missing a part in the song.

starting at about 2.12 you can hear him say “Dein glück, ist nicht mein glück, ist mein unglück”

which i think means “Your happyness, is not my happyness, its my unhappyness” or something like that

  2. I don’t think the whole song has one meaning. It can be about sex, war and anger at the same time. That’s why I love Rammstein.

  3. I personally think the synth parts of this song remind me of the background music played on my favorite old Nintendo game ever…. can you guess it??? Anyone know Metroid???? OMG I loved that game!

  4. Brilliant song. The lyrics, how they’re sung, the music – it’s all so brilliant. A bit of pop, a bit of rock, a dancy vibe and a hint of gravel in Till’s voice. Awesome, and Long Live Rammstein!

  5. I never felt any ringtone I’ve ever heard was any good so I always had my phone on vibrate but this is now my ringtone. Every time I get a call, I feel like the most badass mofo ever.

  6. It looks to me more like a metaphor that the “birth of the destructive child”, that is, “the wretched person who I have become” was caused by the “spark within the woman named Anger”, which in of itself is caused by experiencing pain for the first time. Sex, anger, pain, sorrow, and personal growth all wrapped into one.

  7. Ahh, its been 6 moths since i studied a rammstein track.. my radio is getting mad at me. I agree with the two previous posts. Releasing anger by means of War and Sex and it would seem. Now when i think of WW2 when the soviets where now in germany, they where releasing their anger through war, and to contaminate the Arian race, they raped the females, and this is quite occuring in War in general. Now looking back as beeing from East Germany, it is quite possible that this song draws the paralels and intersections between bothe the aspects of war and war rape.

    Just my thoughts

  8. Tasha ‘s right…It”s a sex thing…RAMMSTEIN thrives on double-meanings, but this is so clear! releasing anger…lol, and Reise, Reise Seemann Reise is about voyaging sailors…suuuuure 😛

Charismatic Enigma : I always thought it was drawing a parallel between sex and war –both are pervasively “male” things….i’ve met women who would argue that point…

  9. I hope I didn’t offend anyone with my previous comment; I just don’t find war to be in anyone’s best interest.

  10. I always thought it was drawing a parallel between sex and war –both are pervasively “male” things.

I’ve also heard an interpretation that puts most of the focus on the third verse — “Gefahrlich, das gebrannte Kind mit Feuer, das vom Leben trennt”. Dangerous is the burnt child with fire that separates from life, or something along those lines.

A child was brought up in a very effed-up life (perhaps abused or bullied) and has a lot of deep-seated rage inside that needs to be released one way or another. The first verse explores the possibility that he goes off to war and vents his rage through violence and government-subsidized murder, while the second verse parallels a firefight with sexual climax, perhaps suggesting “angry sex”.

  11. “From the fire that burns in desire
    A sparking thrust
    into her womb
    A hot cry
    Fire at will!”

Releasing pent up anger? You’ve got to be joking. It’s about ejaculation, plain and simple.
