Lauft!
Run! Because the master has sent us we announce the downfall the rider of malice feed his ulcer of envy The truth is like a thunderstorm it comes to you, you can hear it to announce it, is oh so bitter it comes to you in order to destroy Because the night lay in death we announce the doomsday there will be no mercy run, run for your lives The truth is a choir of wind no angel comes to avenge you these days are your last it will break you apart like little sticks It comes to you as corruption The truth is a choir of wind no angel comes to avenge you these days are your last it will break you apart like little sticks |
“Der Meister” is about God, as Christian Flake Lorenz (keyboards) states in an interview: “Flake: Der Meister is about God”. It is also one of Rammstein’s few songs in a major key.
i did not know the meaning of this for several years, and when i looked at the lyrics i laughed because its funny!
LAUF LAUF LAUUUFFFFFFF! UM EUER LEBEEEEEN!!
verkünden wir den jüngsten Tag :). LAUFT! HAHAHA
It’s about God from the Gnostic perspective where He is the Ultimate Villain of existence. He makes everyone slave their lives worshipping him with the promise of a Heavenly afterlife that he knows is just an illusion.
He’s a nihilistic puppetmaster of existence with an infinite sense of cruelty that is the only emotion He is capable of feeling.
At the End, all those who wasted their lives trying to please Him will realize that “no angel is coming to avenge” them. Gott was just an egomanical dimension lord who despised humankind the entire time but pretended to “show mercy” so as to be adored and bowed down to.
The truth of no mercy is oh so bitter indeed.
In the last days, people will be “…lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.”
So said those afraid of the degradation of their own hold over mankind. Always they say these things, when people stop listening, then they try to enforce them with sword or gun. If your truths are so true, why do you need to enforce them with threat or punishment?
Take your lies and go elsewhere. Rammstein is not about religious stupidities. You have no place here.
Without Gott Man is Inherently Corrupt
Your tongue is like that of a snake
it is about God calling the riders to bring on the Apocalypse
I wonder what is this car braking sound which is heard.
Has any one of the Rammstein members explained it?
I have to admit, its kinda ruining the song, and it is an awesome song!
yes! Rammstein are Dr. Who fans.
Holy shit.
I heard that this song had something to do about Nazism way, way back, but when I read that it was about God, just woah… My perspective on the whole thing just changed, and now it’s one of my favourite songs of all by Rammstein. 😀
It has always been, in my opinion, one of the catchiest and well composed songs of the band.
My interpretation is that it is about the apocalypse, or those who think that it will come. But these lyrics give it a different meaning to me:
“The truth is like a thunderstorm
it comes to you, you can hear it
to announce it, is oh so bitter
it comes to you in order to destroy”
I think that this part is about the truth about the apocalypse. The apocalypse could be either judgment day or something more natural. But I’ll assume it is judgment day. Moving on, I think it’s about those who fear judgment day, and considering the line, “the truth is like a chorus of wind”, makes me believe that those who fear judgment day are deluded or something. The line “no angel will avenge you” also may mean that there is no afterlife, and when you die, clearly, no angel will be there to remember you. You’re dead.
Weak interpretation, sorry, but that’s what I think. Considering that the band is mostly Atheist, I think it’s about the truth that judgment day will not come to pass because it’s not real. But that’s up for debate. It’s a shame there aren’t too many artists in North America, at least popular ones, who have such powerful songs like this. I never thought this song was about something so… deep I guess… D:
it is about God calling to bring on the Apocalypse
These are such interesting lyrics, I was disappointed there isn’t much discussion in the comments D: I think that it might be about the Apocalypse, but parts can be interpreted much more broadly about different things.
Flake says it’s about God, and I guess I should believe him considering either he or his buddies wrote the song… but this doesn’t strike me as told from God or His angels’ point of view. I think the song is about the Apocalypse, told from the POV of one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Perhaps the lyrics refer to the Crusades, or Christian imperialism in general?
Amy, that would make sense. Personally, before I read that bit under the lyrics, I thought of the World War. Maybe that’s just me but…
More than a year later you probably found your answer, Morgenstern…
I guess it is about the last days before the Apocalypse, am I right?
This is a good song, but the lyrics are sort of difficult to understand. Is this song about missionaries for atheism? I'm probably way off, so could someone help me?
this song is one of my faves and one time i had to bring in music at my school so toke this one with me and my class liked it while this was playing my buddy beside me says "how long is this!?"
Listening to it right now……..good cruisin' tune. Thanks Rammstein.
