Interviewer: Gleb Davydov
When you see the making of, then a lot of things are explained. actually, the band tried to explain it in a nice way, what they thought of Eugenio's version. the same for the record company. but for real there were super-disappointed. They had so much expectations for this project, and they were very unhappy with the result, and how they looked in the video. They didn't liked themselves in the video.
Then, they asked me to edit the video. i said its impossible, the material is not enough, not for a Rammstein video, so i decided to shoot more.
I always thought that Eugenio and I would share the directors credits, but, after he saw the video (FUCKIN' over 2 MONTHS AGO !) he said he didn't want the director-credit, he wanted to be credited with his footage material, which is NOT 70%, its more like 50%...maybe even less. i called my editor last night. so he can prove it.
He should show his version, please, please...then everybody can see anyway.
I am a big fan of his work, really, and I can understand why he is angry, because the management doesn't want him to show his version...
But, a management decision is a band decision, can it be, that they just don't want someone to show something that they don't like ?
Now, when he want's to put it on his site, all of a sudden everybody is a shit.
My information was always that everybody knows that i am working on this video.
And, you can take this as a fact, he got paid 3 times more than i did, thank god i did the piano version as well, this is totally mine.
It's easy to build up a myth now, and everybody wants to see his version, I wish everybody could, then everybody will see how fast myths can melt away.
He behaves like a child, in my eyes, and how can can you wish DEATH to somebody ? He wishes DEATH to Till, who is one of his biggest fans. So, everything before was just fake and a lie in their relationship? Just because they didn't like his version?
Are we professionals or not?
So:
1. I was okay with 2 director credits on MHB. NEVER for the piano version.
2. He didn't wanted to be named as a director, after he has seen the final version, because there is not so much in it from him.
3. He got paid for his job and he had an incredible budget.
4. I still like his work a lot, but actually, all of that is not my problem.
Here's my sesame street version:
So, if i pay you to make a portrait of my face, you get the money. you paint it. But I don't like the result. you get the money for your work, but i have the fucking right to say : I don't want it, that someone sees that painting of my person. Because it doesn't represent me. I don't like my face in this painting, but I like the colours, and the painting is mine, because you sold it to me. Now I ask someone else to overdo it, that's not so nice of me, i know, but i am the client, sorry.
Now the person, who has overpainted it, did another painting, because he liked that subject so much, and he made me happy with the other version, AND a new painting...for less money, yippee!
I have shown you the new paintings. You said, 2 months ago, hmm, that isn't my painting anymore, i cant identify it so much, so don't use my name. (maybe you just didn't liked it..)
But, you made a copy of the old painting, and still want to show it to the world.
the other painter has no problem with it...of course not, he's just a painter.
but i have. because i am the fuckin' client.
adios
