FORUM RULES ABOUT WEB-BASED LINKS TO MUSIC AND VIDEO'S

Based on latest discussions on this forum, and studiing copyright laws, it is necessary to state out new forum mandatory rules, effective immediately, so, here we are.

LINKS TO MUSIC & VIDEOS: what is legal/what is not.
NEW RULES in the forum state:

From now on in our forum users shal NOT POST TOPICS THAT containin the following :
• Requests for or links to MP3s, music videos, or other files of questionable legality
• Bootlegs

So, please do not POST A LINK TO music or videos which does not directly originate from an officially legal site.

An OFFICIALLY LEGAL SITE is: rammstein.com or rammstein.de, universal music, a legitimate music site like MTV or VIVA. The links must be direct and linked only to the approved site. Any links which have copied and transferred the music or videos from an official legal site to ANYWHERE else are NOT OFFICIAL.

• Do not ASK FOR A LINK to music or videos. If there is a legal site for either listening or viewing, xTERNAL will provide the information in the NEWS section of www.RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE.com.

WHAT YOU CAN DO in the forums: You can DISCUSS a new song or a new video.

WHAT YOU CANNOT DO in the forums: provide illegal links or ask for links, give directions of any kind as to where something might be found (examples: file-sharing, other fansites, etc.). Screen caps will be allowed (within reason) AFTER a video has been made available through an OFFICIAL LEGAL LINK. Fan remixes of songs will be allowed (within reason) after the song has been officially released.

The above restrictions are necessary not because we are being “damn babies” or “. The reason is simply that RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE has made the decision to not be a facilitator of illegal activities involving copyrighted material. The reason for that is also clear. Rammstein’s Management has shown aggressive behaviour in combating copyright infringement.

Anyone who violates the spirit of the aforementioned expansion/explanation of what the RULES mean here as applied to music and videos (and this also includes the "making of videos") will meet up with one of the following consequences:

POST BLOCKED, LINK ERASED AND WORSE.... BANNED IF NECESSARY.

If you have ANY questions about what may or may not be acceptable here, you can always PM a Moderator and ask first before posting something that might get you in trouble here.

•any links to www.youtube.com (or other sharing sites of a similar nature)are generally not allowed.
While some videos like fan made items or spoof animations are allowed, we do not allow linking to youtube. Oftentimes there is/are illegal videos of Rammstein performances to the side of the linked videos. Actual Rammstein Videos which are very illegal to be hosted by that site - therefore we cannot allow links to youtube to be allowed.

So, links to youtube are now allowed - ONLY IF it is a fanmade video by you, and does not contain bootleg footage or footage of live performances or released performances. Stills from photos found on the net are OK. A montage is OK. Clips of released footage are NOT OK.

Please try to understand that sometimes while we may allow a certain individuals fanmade videos, and deny another persons it is usually because the content in it could get the forums in trouble.

Also if some individuals post their fanmade video and it turns out to be bootleg footage that they filmed themselves at a concert and consider that "fanmade" - then we will have to reverse the ruling on allowing fanmade videos PERIOD!

Here is an update on what is considered "fanmade".
Fanmade is fanmade. You did it yourself. Like cut and paste. You creatd everything yourself. No footage filmed by someone else no clips. Still images are OK.
For example:
If you go out and find 6 banana slugs in the yard, dress them up in LAB outfits, and put the skinniest one in a paper boat and play the music to SEEMANN on a kazoo. That is fanmade.

If you have a coverband and you do your own video or you have footage of YOUR band's performance. That is fanmade.

If you have images that you sketched of how you think the video for a song should have been and you put it to music - I think we can allow that.

Use your creativity.

IF YOU SEE VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, REPORT IT BY USING THE EXCLAMATION MARK IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF RELEVANT POST.

  • Song/lyrics meanings

This topic is for discussing the meanings of the songs or lyrics of Rammstein. Do you think Sonne is about nuclear war or boxing? Discuss it here. Don't know what Feuer Frei tells about? Ask it here. And since many of the songs can have many meanings and none of them is better than another, everyone is right, so no need to argue

I myself have only one song that bothers me. Keine Lust, and especially the chorus. I know what the song is about, but can't figure what have the big animals on the chorus to do with anything? "Ich hätte lust mit GroBen Tieren", "I'd feel like it with big animals", what has this to do with the song, what do they mean?

^Maybe he is implying that he doesn't feel like engaging in normal person habits, and feels more like animals (that don't really do any thing that a person is ought to feel like doing).
"Which is better, eternal happiness or a ham sandwich? It would appear that eternal happiness is better, but this is really not so! After all, nothing is better than eternal happiness, and a ham sandwich is certainly better than nothing. Therefore a ham sandwich is better than eternal happiness."

Found this on the web...copied below:

This song represents Rammstein doing away with their fame, success, and wealth. The line "Ich hab Keine Lust" translates to "No Desire" as they are fed up with the circus that surrounds them and their music, and decide to give it up. And do one last performance just for the music. In the video all the band members arrive in old Mercedes wearing fat suits, symbolizing the excess in their life and not wanting to do anything. Their instruments are filthy and dust covered. Another example of this I don't care theme is during the song Till just throws his microphone down not even finishing the verse cause he doesn't feel like it. Till is shown in the back of the limo chewing on a cigar ignoring the two beautiful women making out, yet another example. Flake is the only member that's skinny cause he has no desire to eat. And another line towards the end is "So Kalt, Mir ist Kalt" translates to "So Frigid, I'm Cold" meaning they are indifferent and empty inside. And at the end of the video everyone gets back in their limo's and leave Flake all alone. Flake rises out of his wheelchair and and walks forward, this might show that the band still wants to play but won't.

Here is the link...I think this really describes it well.

I think some of their songs have no specific meaning as they can be interpreted in many different ways (such as du hast, buck dich, benzin etc)

And, I agree Cannibal...each person can find something to identify with in a Rammstein song...and a different meaning.

Lyrics and meanings are very important for me, even though I don't take them too personally, I still enjoy songs more when I know what they're about.
One song I never quite got was B********. I always tried to put some meaning into it, but I can't. The lyrics just don't make any sense to me.

My first thoughs were insanity and taking someones life, bückstabü meaning the insane, murderous alter ego of the person. But who knows.

And I too agree with cannibal and vbarret, but that's the idea of the topic, to discuss about the different meanings of the songs

For Benzin I can't think of any other meaning than that Till just doesn't need anything else but fuel to incinerate things.

Flake was interviewed by the japanese magazine “Burrn!”, he talks about B********

Burrn: You have proven that metal is the real common language in the world. But tell me, for the love of God, What the hell means the song "B ********"?. Even my German friend know what it means.

Flake:It has several meanings. Imagine that it's a special drug, to make love in a special way. But too much can kill you.

Burrn: Really? So it's a kind of ...

Flake:Yes, yes. It is kind of a poisonous substance

Burrn: Ok, I get it. My German friend thought it was a kind of grammatical error.

Flake: That's interesting. No one really knows the meaning of that title.

A translation of the whole interview can be found at Rammstein Mexico: http://www.rammstein.com.mx/home/not...burrn-magazine

                      Keine Lust

                      Salmari,
Großen Tieren in this context actually means important, or wealthy, or influential people. I would like to (be) with important, or wealthy, or influential people. Hope that helps.

A new look on 'Du Hast' by Dasmirr on Reddit

Found this on reddit today, my jaw nearly fell off.

Sorry if it’s a bit long. Worth the read though. So today I was sitting in my history class as usual, when my teacher (a 50 or so ex-German teacher who is obsessed with everything German related) mentions that he used to show all of his German classes Rammstein videos because of the double meanings many have. He has my attention now. He goes on to say that one day while listening to Du Hast’, he realized that the chorus ‘Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet; treu ihr sein für alle Tage?’ (Will you until death separates you be faithful to her for all days?) didn’t specify who the she was. He went on to say that not only was the she not specified, but that the forceful ‘Nein!’ may have something to do with the mystery of the missing she*. So he decided to watch the video.

And it hit him- The she is Heroin. (Heroin is a feminine word in German)

So essentially, when you put it into context-

‘Will you until death separates you, be faithful to heroin for all days…. No!’

Or simply- Are you willing to be addicted to (married, as ‘Du Hast’ is a play on marriage vows) Heroin for the rest of your life? NO!

So ‘Du Hast’ is a song about not doing drugs.

                        But what about the proof?

My teacher wrote a letter to Rammstein asking if ‘Du Hast’ was indeed referring to Heroin. He got a letter back.

                        ‘Not Bad’

That was all the letter said.

tl;dr- ‘Du Hast’ is a song that is referring to Heroin

x also in the comment section from the same guy:

It’s a pretty abstract idea, however, the driving factor that led him to look into heroin being a possible viewpoint was the contrast of the play on wedding vows and the harshness of the video. Marriage and empty, exploding warehouses don’t go together.

When looking at the video though, he goes in the warehouse, has a great time, gets drugged, lit on fire, but is then seen walking out of the warehouse unscathed. Him walking into the warehouse and meeting up with the others could be compared to going to hang out with friends. He gets beaten by the others and drugged- You get peer pressured into using drugs. He is lit on fire- drugs harm you.

The end, however, it could be interpreted as walking away from the heroin and leaving your past behind you (walking away from the warehouse, it blows up)

^Yup, not bad. Not bad indeed. I wonder if he actually nailed it.

About the undecipherable B******** again: there's a very remarkable link to Goethe's Faust as well in that song (namely the quote "zwei Seelen, ach, in meinem [Schoß]"). This increases the whole "thorn within-feeling" and even adds a some devilry to it.

Another thing I'd like too decipher: what's that whole ending of Zerstören all about? Is it maybe that de destructive guy finally found a matching girl (who was blind in more than one meaning, I guess). And when she finally sees him (in more than one way again), she leaves immediately?
The fact that the girl was like him ("geteiltes Leid und gleichgesinnt") could also be found in the fact that she was blind (blind with anger maybe???). There's much to say about it ...
                              Dort wo der Horizont
                              Sich mit dem Meer verbindet
Dort wollt' ich auf dich warten
Auf das du mich dort findest
