FORUM RULES ABOUT WEB-BASED LINKS TO MUSIC AND VIDEO'S

Based on latest discussions on this forum, and studiing copyright laws, it is necessary to state out new forum mandatory rules, effective immediately, so, here we are.

LINKS TO MUSIC & VIDEOS: what is legal/what is not.
NEW RULES in the forum state:

From now on in our forum users shal NOT POST TOPICS THAT containin the following :
• Requests for or links to MP3s, music videos, or other files of questionable legality
• Bootlegs

So, please do not POST A LINK TO music or videos which does not directly originate from an officially legal site.

An OFFICIALLY LEGAL SITE is: rammstein.com or rammstein.de, universal music, a legitimate music site like MTV or VIVA. The links must be direct and linked only to the approved site. Any links which have copied and transferred the music or videos from an official legal site to ANYWHERE else are NOT OFFICIAL.

• Do not ASK FOR A LINK to music or videos. If there is a legal site for either listening or viewing, xTERNAL will provide the information in the NEWS section of www.RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE.com.

WHAT YOU CAN DO in the forums: You can DISCUSS a new song or a new video.

WHAT YOU CANNOT DO in the forums: provide illegal links or ask for links, give directions of any kind as to where something might be found (examples: file-sharing, other fansites, etc.). Screen caps will be allowed (within reason) AFTER a video has been made available through an OFFICIAL LEGAL LINK. Fan remixes of songs will be allowed (within reason) after the song has been officially released.

The above restrictions are necessary not because we are being “damn babies” or “. The reason is simply that RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE has made the decision to not be a facilitator of illegal activities involving copyrighted material. The reason for that is also clear. Rammstein’s Management has shown aggressive behaviour in combating copyright infringement.

Anyone who violates the spirit of the aforementioned expansion/explanation of what the RULES mean here as applied to music and videos (and this also includes the "making of videos") will meet up with one of the following consequences:

POST BLOCKED, LINK ERASED AND WORSE.... BANNED IF NECESSARY.

If you have ANY questions about what may or may not be acceptable here, you can always PM a Moderator and ask first before posting something that might get you in trouble here.

•any links to www.youtube.com (or other sharing sites of a similar nature)are generally not allowed.
While some videos like fan made items or spoof animations are allowed, we do not allow linking to youtube. Oftentimes there is/are illegal videos of Rammstein performances to the side of the linked videos. Actual Rammstein Videos which are very illegal to be hosted by that site - therefore we cannot allow links to youtube to be allowed.

So, links to youtube are now allowed - ONLY IF it is a fanmade video by you, and does not contain bootleg footage or footage of live performances or released performances. Stills from photos found on the net are OK. A montage is OK. Clips of released footage are NOT OK.

Please try to understand that sometimes while we may allow a certain individuals fanmade videos, and deny another persons it is usually because the content in it could get the forums in trouble.

Also if some individuals post their fanmade video and it turns out to be bootleg footage that they filmed themselves at a concert and consider that "fanmade" - then we will have to reverse the ruling on allowing fanmade videos PERIOD!

Here is an update on what is considered "fanmade".
Fanmade is fanmade. You did it yourself. Like cut and paste. You creatd everything yourself. No footage filmed by someone else no clips. Still images are OK.
For example:
If you go out and find 6 banana slugs in the yard, dress them up in LAB outfits, and put the skinniest one in a paper boat and play the music to SEEMANN on a kazoo. That is fanmade.

If you have a coverband and you do your own video or you have footage of YOUR band's performance. That is fanmade.

If you have images that you sketched of how you think the video for a song should have been and you put it to music - I think we can allow that.

Use your creativity.

IF YOU SEE VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, REPORT IT BY USING THE EXCLAMATION MARK IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF RELEVANT POST.

I do think that Youtube manages to block these videos that you mention. I can't watch the "Ich will" video with 60 million views on my iPad using my Youtube-app. The same goes for many other Rammstein related videos.

I am not at all an expert on how copyright laws and video licenses work. Although, maybe the record lable does not want to remove the most viewed videos from Rammstein, because they think that these videos might help the band's popularity. Although Rose's previous statement says that they actually should remove these videos in order to keep their rights. Another reason might be that many Völkerball and Rammstein music videos are uploaded in 2005 or 2006 and have really low quality. Maybe the managment doesn't see these videos as a "threat" because they think potential customers will demand higher quality and eventually pay for content.

Maybe it is not about the videos, but about the audio track.

All options sound weird to me. It makes no sense Rammstein would have some of their videos suddenly removed after many years, and not to have all videos removed (for example Rosenrot is still remaining with normal video title). But it does not make sense either, that numerous uploaders would remove their Rammstein-videos at the same time just for fun. Maybe it's some kind of a bug in Youtube and the videos will be back later or something. I cannot find a single normal version of Ich Will video, all of them are subtitled somehow or have audio changes.

But thanks for the Vimeo-link, I didn't know about that, though there are only a couple of videos there. Still, this Youtube thing makes me difficult to sleep at night

I lot of other bands and artist regularly remove all unauthorised videos from YouTube. It's a matter of not allowing copyright-infringement, and if they let it slide by they loose all future rights. But the videos you mention are still there. And they have an channel there, though not much is happening on it - like their vimeo channel.

Oh, and if you don't like ads, use an ad-blocker ;-)

They have an official Vimeo channel (link) where they upload their newest music videos. There you can find the "Mein Land" and both the piano and explicit version of "Mein Herz Brennt" in high quality.

Although I think a lot of people are like you, equally irritated that Rammstein's music is constantely being removed from Youtube, I think Vimeo might be a better site for music videos. They don't have advertisments and they are more tolerant towards contant containing swearing, violence, nudity etc. than Youtube which imidiantley flags the video and gives them an age restriction.

Though Rammstein finally joined Spotify, contradictoriously seems that the ridiculous copyright policy of the management has struck again on Youtube. For example the music videos of Ich Will (which had been there for years and had over 60 million views), Du hast, Mein Land and many other songs seem to be removed. Now you only find versions of the songs which somehow bybass the copyright (for example video title being Rammstein - Mein Land Feat. Rammstein) or music being pitched up or down 20%.

I've never understood this kind of action, like it would somehow be a major financial lost for a band as big as Rammstein, if someone watches their nearly 15-year old music videos from Youtube. The thing that makes most sense would be that they want videos to be removed from Youtube so people would listen more them on Spotify, but still, I've said if before - if there's one thing I dislike about Rammstein, it's the overgoing copyrights. These days you can find nearly every bands music or music videos from Youtube at the release, but not Rammsteins - you'd really have to see effort to find a decent version of Mein Land or Mein Herz Brennt videos when they were released.

I like that Rammstein show a little activity on the internet. They have a official website for archives, ticket sale and major announcements. A Facebook page for small updates. In addition they have a Vimeo channel for music videos.

What I would wish they would do now, is to release some of their live material on Qello concerts. If you are not familiar with this website, it's a streaming site for concert films and documentaries. A bit like Netflix with only concert footage.

They could stream their old live DVDs, but also release some material that the band thinks is maybe not worth releasing on DVD due to lack of quality. For instance, the "100 Jahre Rammstein" show in Berlin 1996. Other shows could be Berlin Velodrom 2001 or full show at Brixton Academy 2005. As far as I know, they ought to have a mountain of good concert footage that fans are interested in at their archive (or the companies archives who filmed the shows). It would be pointless in my opinion to keep it hidden there forever.

I think the band has their reasons for not having released these concerts officially yet. The "100 Jahre Rammstein" show for example, had many mess ups and they played unfinished Sehnsucht demos. Secondly, as I mentioned earlier, being that record lables probably don't preserve negatives and raw footage as much as big movie studios (like Universal or Paramount) converting these shows to HD might be impossible.

Anyway, this was just a thought I had. I haven't got a Qello subscription yet, but if Rammstein would post new material their, I would do so instantley.

The English version of America is SO bad, no reason to add that. I normally skip it when it comes on at my player ;-) But I guess for fans none of these titles are very rare, except 5/4 perhaps? (I never heard of it )

Maybe they could put English version of "Amerika" instead of Vocoder Mix of "Mutter". And "Mein Land" is not rare, it's on "Made in Germany". But God knows the best XD
