FORUM RULES ABOUT WEB-BASED LINKS TO MUSIC AND VIDEO'S

Based on latest discussions on this forum, and studiing copyright laws, it is necessary to state out new forum mandatory rules, effective immediately, so, here we are.

LINKS TO MUSIC & VIDEOS: what is legal/what is not.
NEW RULES in the forum state:

From now on in our forum users shal NOT POST TOPICS THAT containin the following :
• Requests for or links to MP3s, music videos, or other files of questionable legality
• Bootlegs

So, please do not POST A LINK TO music or videos which does not directly originate from an officially legal site.

An OFFICIALLY LEGAL SITE is: rammstein.com or rammstein.de, universal music, a legitimate music site like MTV or VIVA. The links must be direct and linked only to the approved site. Any links which have copied and transferred the music or videos from an official legal site to ANYWHERE else are NOT OFFICIAL.

• Do not ASK FOR A LINK to music or videos. If there is a legal site for either listening or viewing, xTERNAL will provide the information in the NEWS section of www.RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE.com.

WHAT YOU CAN DO in the forums: You can DISCUSS a new song or a new video.

WHAT YOU CANNOT DO in the forums: provide illegal links or ask for links, give directions of any kind as to where something might be found (examples: file-sharing, other fansites, etc.). Screen caps will be allowed (within reason) AFTER a video has been made available through an OFFICIAL LEGAL LINK. Fan remixes of songs will be allowed (within reason) after the song has been officially released.

The above restrictions are necessary not because we are being “damn babies” or “. The reason is simply that RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE has made the decision to not be a facilitator of illegal activities involving copyrighted material. The reason for that is also clear. Rammstein’s Management has shown aggressive behaviour in combating copyright infringement.

Anyone who violates the spirit of the aforementioned expansion/explanation of what the RULES mean here as applied to music and videos (and this also includes the "making of videos") will meet up with one of the following consequences:

POST BLOCKED, LINK ERASED AND WORSE.... BANNED IF NECESSARY.

If you have ANY questions about what may or may not be acceptable here, you can always PM a Moderator and ask first before posting something that might get you in trouble here.

•any links to www.youtube.com (or other sharing sites of a similar nature)are generally not allowed.
While some videos like fan made items or spoof animations are allowed, we do not allow linking to youtube. Oftentimes there is/are illegal videos of Rammstein performances to the side of the linked videos. Actual Rammstein Videos which are very illegal to be hosted by that site - therefore we cannot allow links to youtube to be allowed.

So, links to youtube are now allowed - ONLY IF it is a fanmade video by you, and does not contain bootleg footage or footage of live performances or released performances. Stills from photos found on the net are OK. A montage is OK. Clips of released footage are NOT OK.

Please try to understand that sometimes while we may allow a certain individuals fanmade videos, and deny another persons it is usually because the content in it could get the forums in trouble.

Also if some individuals post their fanmade video and it turns out to be bootleg footage that they filmed themselves at a concert and consider that "fanmade" - then we will have to reverse the ruling on allowing fanmade videos PERIOD!

Here is an update on what is considered "fanmade".
Fanmade is fanmade. You did it yourself. Like cut and paste. You creatd everything yourself. No footage filmed by someone else no clips. Still images are OK.
For example:
If you go out and find 6 banana slugs in the yard, dress them up in LAB outfits, and put the skinniest one in a paper boat and play the music to SEEMANN on a kazoo. That is fanmade.

If you have a coverband and you do your own video or you have footage of YOUR band's performance. That is fanmade.

If you have images that you sketched of how you think the video for a song should have been and you put it to music - I think we can allow that.

Use your creativity.

IF YOU SEE VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, REPORT IT BY USING THE EXCLAMATION MARK IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF RELEVANT POST.

  • Did you know?

This is a thread with facts / stories about Rammstein that many people don't know.

I'll start off with a few:

    - Did you know the band originally had an entire other idea for the clip of Sonne? The first idea was to shoot a clip about the band being allied forces in a plane, about to drop an A-Bomb on Hiroshima. In the video the band would be in the plane waiting for the right moment, eventually turning into a fight where some band members refuse to drop the bomb while the others just want to do their duty...

    - Did you know the album version of Ein Lied was just a demo to base the actual song on? They made this acoustic version so they could make an electric song with keeboards and drums. However they liked the demo already and didn't manage to improve it in any way, so they just took the acoustic demo.

    - Did you know Coldplay singer Chris Martin is a very big fan of the song Amerika? He thought it's so well-written, he even integrated fragments of the song in some Coldplay concerts of 2005/2006.

Okay, I'll give some more, just to get things going:

      - Did you know in the early days the band toured in Till's old van? It was an old thing, but big enough for Till to drive them around with their gear.

      - Did you know Schneider's father earns even more money with music than his son? He's namely a well-known conductor constantly on the road with great orchestras.

      - The pre-production of the Mutter-album took place at Heiligendamm. When entering the city, you see a sign "Heiligendamm, da wo das Land das Meer berührt." Needles to say that sign was inspiration for a line in the song Nebel.

Oh, in several places... Testemonies by people who meet or co-operated with the band, some of the lesser known interviews (there are rare sites that give you access to those interviews) and the book Bis das Herz brennt, the unoffical Rammstein biography .

The following are part of the LIFAD quiz of last february:

            - Did you know Sven Helbig had the idea for the song cycle “Mein Herz brennt”, and the premiere was on 20th November 2003 in Kulturpalast Dresden?

            More details: http://www.dw.de/german-band-rammste...s-up/a-1037892
You can find the videos in Torsten Rasch channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Bockelson?feature=watch

            - Did you know the name Flake originated from the cartoon series “Wickie und die starken Männer” / “Vicky the Viking“?. Vicky lives in a small Viking town, called Flake, with his parents.

            - Did you know Gottfried Helnwein made the cover photos for the Sehnsucht CD. The surgical instruments where property of (Ernst) Ferdinand Sauerbruch, he is considered the most important surgeon in the first half of 20th century.

And you must guess the last, I'm sure it's not difficult.
Is this song familiar for you?

I remember they showed Vicky the Viking here in the very early 80's and I remember watching it with my neice and nephew who I was brining up at the time. The weird thing is, when I was in Germany last december I was in a Reva supermarket and I came across a Vicky the Viking lucky bag, (a lucky bag is a collection of sweets and little toys/activities all in one small bag I can't remember the proper name but here we always call them lucky bags), and I meant to buy a couple as a momento for the aformentioned neice and nephew but I continued round the store and forget. You are spot on though Maya, the village was called Flake. Boy that takes me back!

I did recognise the song, but I know a better version

                  jajajaja

Maybe it's beceause they replayed the cartoon series one or two years ago. There's even a film (2009).

I just read in wikipedia that there will be a new version of the cartoon this year. After watching Maya the bee (new version) and the old one, I don't know what to expect.

Do you know a better version ? jijijijij

You know, when Flake himself was asked where this nick name came from, he answered he didn't know himself. His parents called him like that since he was five. The name surely reminds him of the place in the "Wickie und die starken Männer" - cartoon series (which Flake watched indeed). However the series weren't broadcasted in Germany untill 1974, when Flake was already eight years old. Of course it might be possible that Flake's parents got the name from the swedisch children's book "Vicke Viking" from the year 1963, on which the tv series was based.
It has been said as well that he was just called "Flake" after the german name "Flake", although that was already back than a rather uncommon first name.

^I have read many versions, he even said I does not mean anything.

                      I have two sources :

The first is a translation of Süddeutsche Zeitung-Magazin. You can read it here.

And the second is the LIFAD quiz, they said:

                      Today's question - Feb. 27th

                      3. From where does the name “Flake” originate?

Answer: From the cartoon series “Wickie und die starken Männer” / “Vicky the Viking“.
Vicky lives in a small Viking town, called Flake, with his parents.

The first, the one you ask for ^

Laszlo Vass (Beasty) has posted on LIFAD Community the pages of the magazine but with the text written in English. Amazing work.

Did you know that Ein Leid (2005) was actually originally from 2000, until they re-recorded it in 2004?

Strib nicht vor mir was actually recorded in 1999 until re-recorded in 2005?
