FORUM RULES ABOUT WEB-BASED LINKS TO MUSIC AND VIDEO'S

Based on latest discussions on this forum, and studiing copyright laws, it is necessary to state out new forum mandatory rules, effective immediately, so, here we are.

LINKS TO MUSIC & VIDEOS: what is legal/what is not.
NEW RULES in the forum state:

From now on in our forum users shal NOT POST TOPICS THAT containin the following :
• Requests for or links to MP3s, music videos, or other files of questionable legality
• Bootlegs

So, please do not POST A LINK TO music or videos which does not directly originate from an officially legal site.

An OFFICIALLY LEGAL SITE is: rammstein.com or rammstein.de, universal music, a legitimate music site like MTV or VIVA. The links must be direct and linked only to the approved site. Any links which have copied and transferred the music or videos from an official legal site to ANYWHERE else are NOT OFFICIAL.

• Do not ASK FOR A LINK to music or videos. If there is a legal site for either listening or viewing, xTERNAL will provide the information in the NEWS section of www.RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE.com.

WHAT YOU CAN DO in the forums: You can DISCUSS a new song or a new video.

WHAT YOU CANNOT DO in the forums: provide illegal links or ask for links, give directions of any kind as to where something might be found (examples: file-sharing, other fansites, etc.). Screen caps will be allowed (within reason) AFTER a video has been made available through an OFFICIAL LEGAL LINK. Fan remixes of songs will be allowed (within reason) after the song has been officially released.

The above restrictions are necessary not because we are being “damn babies” or “. The reason is simply that RAMMSTEIN-EUROPE has made the decision to not be a facilitator of illegal activities involving copyrighted material. The reason for that is also clear. Rammstein’s Management has shown aggressive behaviour in combating copyright infringement.

Anyone who violates the spirit of the aforementioned expansion/explanation of what the RULES mean here as applied to music and videos (and this also includes the "making of videos") will meet up with one of the following consequences:

POST BLOCKED, LINK ERASED AND WORSE.... BANNED IF NECESSARY.

If you have ANY questions about what may or may not be acceptable here, you can always PM a Moderator and ask first before posting something that might get you in trouble here.

•any links to www.youtube.com (or other sharing sites of a similar nature)are generally not allowed.
While some videos like fan made items or spoof animations are allowed, we do not allow linking to youtube. Oftentimes there is/are illegal videos of Rammstein performances to the side of the linked videos. Actual Rammstein Videos which are very illegal to be hosted by that site - therefore we cannot allow links to youtube to be allowed.

So, links to youtube are now allowed - ONLY IF it is a fanmade video by you, and does not contain bootleg footage or footage of live performances or released performances. Stills from photos found on the net are OK. A montage is OK. Clips of released footage are NOT OK.

Please try to understand that sometimes while we may allow a certain individuals fanmade videos, and deny another persons it is usually because the content in it could get the forums in trouble.

Also if some individuals post their fanmade video and it turns out to be bootleg footage that they filmed themselves at a concert and consider that "fanmade" - then we will have to reverse the ruling on allowing fanmade videos PERIOD!

Here is an update on what is considered "fanmade".
Fanmade is fanmade. You did it yourself. Like cut and paste. You creatd everything yourself. No footage filmed by someone else no clips. Still images are OK.
For example:
If you go out and find 6 banana slugs in the yard, dress them up in LAB outfits, and put the skinniest one in a paper boat and play the music to SEEMANN on a kazoo. That is fanmade.

If you have a coverband and you do your own video or you have footage of YOUR band's performance. That is fanmade.

If you have images that you sketched of how you think the video for a song should have been and you put it to music - I think we can allow that.

Use your creativity.

IF YOU SEE VIOLATION OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, REPORT IT BY USING THE EXCLAMATION MARK IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF RELEVANT POST.

  • Edited Picture of RZK

So there is a picture of Richard from a photo session of Olaf Heine from 2000, and I have decided to clean that picture to get a different and hopefully better perspective on that picture.
    The Result!

You always seem to edit other peoples work and call it better. Why is that? Why not try to make something of your own? Or make something completely different, than just "clean" it, strange concept in my opinion, on someone's artistic work.

^Rose said it all. You seem to be skilled in many tools, but instead of using those skills to create something of your own, you prefer to use them to fix stuff that is not broken.
"Which is better, eternal happiness or a ham sandwich? It would appear that eternal happiness is better, but this is really not so! After all, nothing is better than eternal happiness, and a ham sandwich is certainly better than nothing. Therefore a ham sandwich is better than eternal happiness."

Yes I always seem to edit, because this is what I do god damn it, this is my own version of the bloody picture, and in my opinion it is better, the fact that you don't think it is better, does not mean others think the same.
Maybe for you this stuff is not broken, the picture in my case, but I do.
I believe that these scars make the picture worse to be honest, and I always thought how would it look like without them, and here is my result, which I consider an improvement.

Also, all I wanted to hear is the opinion about that edition.

My first thought was why? So I agree with The Rose and Snake.
If you want hear opinion about edition, you can edit pictures well. You know what to do.

We all know how RZK look, by taking the original work away from the picture you have ended up with a rather ordinary and bland portrait. Why don't you try going the other way and take a studio-portrait and do something interesting with that?

You wanted to hear our opinion and you got it. Sorry you don't like what you got, but that is the chance you take.

If what you want to ear is our opinion regarding your edition, than here is mine: I can still notice the picture was doctored. You did a good job, but not good enough to make RZK's face look normal.

You probably don't understand me, you all know how Richard look? that's nice, but this is not my goal/aim.
As I said, I have removed these scars, and the "Original work", to get a different perspective on the picture, noticing stuff you didn't notice before, it can be a small detail as well, this is quite the same with the songs that I have been editing,
Maybe this is an ordinary portrait, yet I do find it good, despite the lack of originality.
And yes, I still think what shall I do to make his face normal.

I've got nothing more to add, except you should remember that pictures like music are under copyright laws.

In my opinion you have destroyed the photo, I dislike your edition in all aspects, specially the way his skin looks. Sorry, you asked.

It doesn't even really look like him anymore.

I can appreciate you wanting to take things and make them into things the way you would prefer them, but I just don't understand why. You are taking other people's art and changing it to suit yourself. And then when you ask our opinions, and we give them, you get angry because we don't agree that the originals needed to be changed.

^For me, in this case is even worse. The objective of this photo is to show RZK with scars, why removing them?

You talk about noticing things you never noticed before but you have totally ruined the skin texture, so I have to say that the only thing I notice now is a ruined picture. You also state that you have improved on the original. A little pompous don't you think? All you have done with 'editing' songs and pictures is ruin their originality. These works are NOT yours to tamper with.If you don't like a particular part of a song that you didn't write or record, stop listening to that song. If you don't like the look of a picture you didn't photograph/paint/draw, look at a different picture.
And finally, don't tell me that this latest piece of crap you have turned out is an improvement. That's just ill deserved self praise, and somewhat deluded.

Although I overall agree with the rest you said, I don't agree with this part. That part essentially says every remix or re-edition is uncalled for / bad / a mistake by definition, and I don't follow that. I love many remixes and think many artists improved work by making their own version (for example, IMO Guns N' Roses is a band that does many covers and they almost always make it better). And that they are not yours to tamper with.. well, if it's been released out there, it becomes more or less a possession of the people. Except for the copyright stuff and so.

@Xendar: I like you creativity essentially, but I'm becoming aware of the fact it's often something very personal. I understand the "why"-question of many people here, because it's a very personal urge you're fullfilling here. You "wield" a very postmodern aproach of media where very person could add something to the work, even the public. Mostly I'm not into that, to be honest, or that is when it comes to music and pictures. I personally never change pics, because I think it pulls its strength from the reality it refers to. For me its a representation of something out there, which is why I almost never edit photos as well (if they're bad, I just think they're bad and I remove them). So, a priori I don't like your pic, but I'm no "connaisseur", so I can't really say much about it, can't say if it's well done or not.
