Till: Destroying the myths

2face, if you check up the Winnipeg gig clips (on youtube for example) take a close look - scars are nowhere to be seen. First time they appear is around Vancouver gig. If you're talking about those two, sharp cuts on Till's right arm, that's a totally different story. He's had them since long time ago.
I'm talking about the new ones. Seven cuts on the right arm included.

^Before the Canadian tour dates I never saw those, to be honest. On the Antwerp gig (last gig before their first pause in the MIG tour, last date before they crossed the Atlantic), his arms looked just fine.

Around 15th of May (Vancouver gig) Till inflicted some serious, deep wounds on both arms and chest. The pics of the wounds leaked very fast and fans were dead worried about him - people started to bring up various speculations as to how he could get them. We learned from a fan, (who talked to the technical crew) that Till wanted to help them unload the equipment, something went wrong and hurt him (according to the crew, those metal Engel wings are to blame, and yes, it is plausible, since those metal-parts are sharp as h*ll, they probably slid and brushed against his body). Those scars can be also seen on the Suddeustche Zeitung Magazine cover.

Sorry to say this, but I don't believe that. I have seen older pics with similar cuts on his arms before the Vancouver gig.

It's also the incredible strenghth of character that impresses me. P.ex: when he got his knee ridden over by Flake on a segway back in 2005 (and yet continued to sing) or when he got a short attack of sickness before Ohne Dich song in Dusseldorf but still moved on.. not to mention those numerous scars he got because of a technic mishap O.o. But he keeps going. You can say he's giving the most of himself. And I also find it very endearing that he says the "let me see your hands" sequence from Ich Will in different languages depending on what country he performs at the time. No doubt he is a man with passion.

What technical mishap? What happend (numerous scars)?

^He's waaaay better now, but still has his principles (in a way I admire that, rather than some rock stars who turn out to be push-overs). It's been a long time since he was late (due to his own behaviour that is) or made problems on stage without much to defend it. if only he did before...

^The song Haifisch seems to confirm those thoughts in some way. They won't stop, and the big thankfull audience plays a significant role in that. But if you're saying Till is only doing it for the fans, I think it's not entirely correct. I think he quite enjoys being on stage, which I witnessed 2 years ago on the festival (the crowd was louder than expected and even Till couldn't hide his smile (!!!) for some moments). He also seems very much passionated by the more quiet songs. This could of course all be acting, but I don't you can keep that up for years if it's "just" for the fans.
And tired of making new material is very questionable for me too. When it comes to writing it seems more like Till is an inexhaustble source (which we know since Hof told us about his hundreds of poems).

Yeah I kinda meant what you said, but you worded it better. :P

With tired of writing I mean more like, not feeling the need to go in the studio all the time. But I think he's the kind of person that's always busy writing lyrics and poems (he's partly a poet after all). And with doing it for the fans I indeed meant that we just keep him fueled. If no one would recognize his work at all, I know I wouldn't be motivated to go on.

I agree. He may have all the money and adoration one could ever hope for, but his eyes count for a lot in my book. I know this probably sounds really corny and stupid, but I think maybe some people just have melancholy hardwired into them, I know I do. Im not saying that I can't be happy at times, but I can always feel it creeping up on me. I think Till is the same way, and I love him for it. I would miss him dearly, but i wish sometimes he would retire. He has given us so much already, and he has said already that he loves travel and adventure. I think he would be happier if he didn't have to work on albums and tour and things....Sigh...I wish i could sit with him on a secluded dock somewhere and have some beers.

Sometimes, I think Till does it all for us fans, like you said. Like very often he's tired of writing new material and playing the same songs over again, but that we kind of.. drive him to continue. Gotta love him for that.

Anyways.. the way his mother speaks about Till. He really seems like you know, one of the best persons to have ever lived. Very loving. Should be a lovely guy to be friends with.
